Yes I know, stats are not the whole picture. But here they are anyway and at least 2 of those Matfield tackles were crucial:

This is crazy - he does not realize what a negative impact Matfield has on the whole game.  Which crucial tackles did Matfield make - village idiot?

Tackling was one thing, having our defence cleanly breached was quite another. Japan were not looking to make contact, but manipulate our defence and through speed and mobility out maneuver us. Only god knows what would have happened had Victor and Schalk not been on the field.

 Desert Disaster
God knows what happened because Ouma Victoria and Burger was there - we lost hopelessly and they were substantially responsible for the loss.   Another return by you - but without a change of user name this time - and you are still competing with Mozert in the idiocy stakes.
You live in denial of reality - Meyer made a disaster by his squad selection on the basis of reputation and not on actual performance.  Most of the has-beens and never-has-beens should not be in the squad.
Meyer apologized to the nation for the dismal performance by the Springboks yesterday - Moizart and you should apologi\ze for the rubbish you write on this site.   Your third compatriot Ceradunce is so ashamed of himself - he went into hidiing.
Abject apologies on the part of all three of you of members of this site would be a first step towards recovering of some sense in your future contributions.

Hey Mozzie you old fart just watch the game again and see what a fool Victoria made of himself and the Protea's.
He was bowled over by a small Japanese player on more than once, he was never ever involved in supporting the other forward players either at scrum time or loose play.
He was mostly standing in the back line line a center with no clue.
As a lock he is a total failure for SA rugby.Loop showed what a lock player must do during a game, like being involved in all facets of play.
Stats are there for guys like you to use to defend and support an argument which has no substance.
All the stats in the world will not change the end result.....YOUR HERO was a mistake selection now and has been for the past few years.
Also remember that real Springboks wear the Springbok emblem on their chest not on their sleeve.
The Japs beat your Meyer's old timers and now they have a ton of pressure to bear for the rest of the round.

He was pathetic ... as always ... and contributed to the most humiliating defeat in Bok history.

Don't try and find excuses for the loss yesterday and be a real man - man up and admit that Meyer f#cked up badly in his squad selection - that his addiction to elderly non-performing players was the root of the disaster yesterday.  The dumbos on this site who write praise-songs - and has the audacity to continue with those - is unbelievable.
Mozart and co should apologize and start listening to what thinking people on this site says about the idiocy of Meyer,  as a first step to recover some self-respect.
By the way the Boks yesterday looks like the inmates of a retirement village trying to play rugby.

Moz or anyone else. I had to upgrade to Win10 but in the process lost my bookmarks.

I would appreciate it if anyone can give me the link to the stats shown above.

Dankie.

Sadly there are no winners in the stats departmen. A little bit if shyt spoils a bowl of icecream, whereas a little bit of icecream does nothing to a bowl of shyt. Rude comparison and I'm not saying the boks are comparable with excrement,  but they aint champions either. Congrats again to Japan. You will have my support in all your future endeavours. Still backing my Boks too, but damn, they make it hard to be positive about Bok Rugby.

Jean, Victor and Schalk did not lose the game because of their play ...as the numbers clearly show they were among the better Boks. They might have lost it because of their leadership, their failure to give the team direction.

We needed a John Smit vs Fiji moment. The Victor/Jean leadership axis has to be working when we play next. And somebody has to tell Kriel to stay outsi de his marker and pressure inwards. As we saw in the last try, we cant afford any more missed tackles through the outside gap.

Hey Moz ,tell you what as a neutral in that game I saw Burger [ he does run rather upright doesnt he ? ]and Matfield set up the 2 line-out drives for those tries so dont get the hate .Some of the young blokes like Lambie were a bit ordinary to say the least and the sight of JAPAN pushing the boks back in a rolling maul for a try was astounding !

Burger has never been a penetrating runner....he is usually very secure and his hands are phenomenal. The Japanese were very quick to anticipate the offloads though...credit Eddie Jones.
And yes WD none of the flavour of the day players did diddly....but if you read the garbage on here you would think Matfield had a terrible game.

So if the Boks got rid of all their experienced players what would be left ? High School musical ? Even if the older players didnt set the world alight I still dont get the vitriol for men who have served SA rugby so well for so long ,I doubt many Kiwis would do the same towards say Carter ,Smith or Maccaw no matter how they were going .And I may take the Mickey a wee bit about Morne but I still rate him as a better option than Lambie or even Pollard atm .Human metronome that dude .

Every game we lose is because of Matfield, Frans, Morne, Du Preez or Alberts. If you know that you know everything Michael will ever say until the day he dies. He even blame Morne for a loss when he wasn't on the field.

Hope your boys get their act together ,I dont want our boys playing against a less than best Boks .The old foe is still our gold standard even when the wobblies are going well .Beating the boks is like beating a rival in the schoolyard ,beating the wobs is like booting your annoying brother up the ars.e when he gets a bit lippy.

So what is new on this site?  Nothing of any substance.   Nothing - no t even a disastrous loss will ever open the eyes of some members to what is worng in the Springbok team.
Then we get the standard Mozart BS.   When I say Alberts cannot ruck balls - he slips on a banana peel, but keep on shouting about ignorance.   In his mind Alberts destroy opposition rucks - that is if he can get to the rucks, which is a rarity.  He never saw how dismal Alberts is in ball carries - his way below par tackle stats - his dismal  deficiency in ball protection and recovery (two issues that he is unable to do in any event) and his very low and poor work rate.  All of that has gone way over his head for years now.    But then there is no need for ball protection and recovery in games according to Mozart.
One can only shake ones head in disbelieve - when will Mozart ever learn that rugby requires performance, not only reputation selection?   Who performed well on Saturday amongst the forwards?  De Jager - but Mozart wants to have him out of the team and retain the poorest lock imaginable in the team.   When will it ever enter his head that Matfield is not a lock performing his duty in Tight 5 play and just standing around in the backline trying to make mostly weak tackles?

I understand rugby - you are delusional.  I m not one who support a dud coach selecting players on reputation without regard to performance and then confirms that in public.  I live by reality - you by your personal likes and dislikes of certain players.   In you case it is seriously difficult - like trying to get some ideas into that brick wall brain of yours - but one can only try.
If one listens to M eyer and you - everything is fine - play the same duds week after week and everything will be fine.

I'm sorry to say, but Jean has not played enough since his injury to be a starter, never mind Captain. Morne Steyn is not an option at 10, because he hasn't played in this team for ages. Lambie did not play enough in recent games at 10 either. Same goes for FDP, but he must get time on the pitch pronto, just because the alternative is even more of a risk. These guys must play from the bench to get into the team, not be included just because the were world beaters once. Same can be said for Alberts. The only guy I will bring straight into the mix is Vermeulen, as we don't have anyone else at 8 nearly as good as he.

Bwahahahahaha ! " If you knew Sushi like I know sushi ! "Actually the game against the Poms in 2002 wher Corne Krieg and his boys lost the plot is the worst Bok game ever ,if not for the score-line then just for the way they behaved in such a despicable fashion [ I know many think the Boks are thugs but thats more to do with individual prats found everywhere ] And the Boks came back from that .

You don't even understand the most fundamental concepts. You have absolutely no basis to talk about anything. I actual feel bad about ripping you apart the past few years. It was fun, but it was like hitting a defenceless baby in the face with a club... repeatedly. It's time, surely, to put yourself out of your misery. Speak for your yourself Desert, telling someone they know nothing about the sport they love just because they're views are not the same as yours is rubbish. Rugby is a subjective game, it always has been, if everyone thought the same way it would be terrible.

I do hope the boks and more importantly there coach's wake up and smell the coffee. They not going to get away with size and brut force anymore the game plan and the way rugby is played as a whole has changed !!! Obviously the japs did there homework and well our bok coach had other ideas such as just run over them boys !!! Well that did not work try again lads ...
