Teams:

South Africa

15 Willie le Roux, 14 S'bu Nkosi, 13 Lukhanyo Am, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Aphiwe Dyantyi, 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Faf de Klerk, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 6 Siya Kolisi (captain), 5 Franco Mostert, 4 RG Snyman, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Bongi Mbonambi, 1 Tendai Mtawarira

Substitutes: 16 Akker van der Merwe, 17 Steven Kitshoff, 18 Thomas du Toit, 19 Jean-Luc du Preez, 20 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, 21 Ivan van Zyl, 22 Jesse Kriel, 23 Warrick Gelan

Gelant did very little last week with his time on the park- so he is going to need to full finger this week.

England

15 Elliot Daly, 14 Jonny May, 13 Henry Slade, 12 Owen Farrell (captain), 11 Mike Brown, 10 George Ford, 9 Ben Youngs, 8 Billy Vunipola, 7 Tom Curry, 6 Brad Shields, 5 Maro Itoje, 4 Joe Launchbury, 3 Kyle Sinckler, 2 Jamie George, 1 Mako Vunipola

Substitutes: 16 Luke Cowan-Dickie, 17 Joe Marler, 18 Harry Williams, 19 Mark Wilson, 20 Nathan Hughes, 21 Ben Spencer, 22 Danny Cipriani, 23 Denny Solomona

Pretty much the same team as last week, which seems like the best idea.Ideally, the Boks can close the 2nd test with a victory- and then experiment a little more in the third test.

Not sure what has happened to Esterhuizen.... Jessica is the now the centre cover.

The thread was started earlier by me - so I will add my comments again,

I was correct iro two of my comments iro of changes when I suggested that =

*    after some seriously defective performances on both Super Rugby and tests Wilco Louw was going to be rested; and

*     that S-P du Toit would start in the place of either Du Preez or Mostert.   It is likely that Du Toit was selected at 7 because Mostert did not perform well enough for the Lions when he was selected at 7 for their team

However - I am disappointed with the bench and in particular with Kriel being brought in ahead of Esterhuizen.   There is no replacement flyhalf since Jantjies was dropped from the squad.   He was poor against Wales and vanished from sight when he came on against England - the one crucial tackle he was supposed to make on May - he went AWOL.

So two of the under-performers in the last two tests - Louw and Jantjies - have been dropped from the day squad altogether.   Louw will remain in consideration - but I think Jantjies really is on the way out.

The retention of Am is just to keep the quota numbers right - he was useless against England.  .

Sorry, I never noticed the thread you had already created!

-

I did not notice Jantjies was dropped completely. He has not delivered at test level- but is good in SuperRugby - at least allot of the time.

Louw has been useless this season- probably overplayed by the imbecile Robbie Fleck. The belly-flopper starts in his place.

AM probably deserves some more chances, as he has just had one test to date. I don't think he is an international standard player- but he is solid.

We may see Dyanti moved to outside centre anyway to get him more involved.

The Esterhuizen situation is a shock because he is surely the best defender we have.

Jessica is not a test level center, hopefully, Meyer gives him a run at wing or 15- although he also appears to have lost his pace and become a creatine zombie.

Willie Leroux will probably cover flyhalf.  Ivan the terrible has not looked in any way like a test player- so we are dependent on Faff.
