Bok team to face Scotland announced
Only one change in the pack, where Jasper Wiese takes over from Duane Vermeulen, who moves to the bench, while the changes in the backline see Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriel unite in a midfield pairing, and Cheslin Kolbe returns as a left wing in place of Makazole Mapimpi.
I would have much preferred a centre pairing of Esterhuizen and Moodie . . . but come on Bokke!
He's also a snivelling and embarrassing crybaby but I'm really hoping he proves me wrong.
I agree Mostert has no business starting and I think his centre selection is a serious blunder, but hey, let's defend our title. Come on Bokke!
A more conservative 6-2 split.
Will nobody rid me of these meddlesome Duds?
The dud is in the eye of the beholder...only you can rid yourself of these irrational vices...
One Dud can't be defended because he's well . . . a Dud . . . but the other admittedly lost a lot of his mojo after the last RWC but he's rediscovering that kind of form just in time for the next one. Maybe Pieter-Steph is a RWC peaker!
I've never been the biggest DDA basher because while I think he's pretty ordinary and has far too many brain implosions, he's hasn't had an obvious replacement until recently. Esterhuizen and Willemse both offer so much more. I just know DDA is going to frustrate the hell out me during this RWC . . . but as with Rassie, I hope he proves me wrong.
Moodie has a minor hamstring injury.
Rassie may well have picked Esterhuizen ahead of DDA if he had Moodie available but I suspect he's playing safe and keeping a tried and trusted combination. Think AE and CM may still be his first choice when both are fit.
I approached this thread with the excitement of a kid in a candy store, I couldn't wait to see who was lined up at number 12, and lo and behold, it was none other than Delande!
I almost collapsed, before regaining control. But then, as I scrolled further down the lineup, there he was at number 13 – Kriel! Two plodders who could probably brainstorm for hours and still struggle with the creativity to create a paper airplane.
I mean, seriously, these guys are like the Picasso of predictability. If creativity were a nearby location , they'd need a GPS to find it. You could give them a coloring book, and they'd still manage to color within the lines.
I can live with Wiese starting at 8 to keep Vermuelen fresh,
but we are going to be just one brain fart away from a red card with Wiese
Harrasmus is playing with fire putting this team out in what is a must win game in order to take the pressure off the later Ireland match up.
Is he disrespecting the Jocks with starting DDA, Kriel and Wiese?
It would appear so and he’ll be shot if the Boks come a cropper in this game. With that centre pairing, Bok back play will be severely stymied. Also, Wiese is (like Scott Barrett!) a bit of a loose unit and will have to be on his best behaviour…..
I think that Kriel is to my mind te only questionable player in the team as announced. The reason is that A m is out of form and Moodie is out with a slight lastring injury,
Esterhuizen is always a fringe player since he ahs limitations in especially pace and defense - that is why he was not in the 2019 WC squad and it is still the case, Lets make it clear that Esterhuizen looks good when strong carries in particular in traffic- but he is not the ball protecor De Allende is and tends to give penalties away when carrying the ball and after being tackled or when he undertakes ball protection after carries by other players. . .

Have to agree Moolaa, it's like the Titanic setting sail with a couple of ton of scrap metal on board. In total they've added 4 duds to the side, 2 as a centre pairing and 2 in the forwards. Anyone know where I can lay a bet about the center pairing going tryless? And that the anorexic lock will not/cannot ball carry? But then to round things off we have a dumb muscle penalty machine at 8......cry me a river!
Moodie is injured, that is why he wasn't picked.
But worried that we have 2 small wingers but I they are both class.
See that they have gone for our best front 3.
Vermeulen on the bench as backup captain given that Kolisi won't last the full game
But worried that we have 2 small wingers but I they are both class.
What they lack in size they compensate in skill, speed and ball sense.
I'd have that any day ahead of 6ft+ who takes up a lot of space.
Lots of complaints about the center pairing until the oaks were informed Moodie was injured.
Given the Scots will try and run the ball and play at a furious pace the more mobile Wiese could be the right move.
As to the locks I would have preferred a Etzebeth/Snyman combo with Kleyn on the bench. Kwagga also on the bench. Kwagga can also help out in the backline if necessary.
Our pack is pretty mobile. And has good physicality. Rassie probably thinks this is the right balance for tbe Scots.
I suspect. Mostert might play 80 minutes. Like Du Toit he has a big engine.
I also prefer Mpimpi to Arendse as I don't like two small wings.
After years of anti Allende propaganda and nonsense about Kriel recent games have shown these two guys are playing well.
Previously the squawks were about how Vermuelen was too old and should be chucked out. Now the squawks are about him not starting.! Seems like Rassie did the right thing in keeping Vermuelen. The coach obviously knows far more than our up and down all over the place critics here. Du Toit has been rubbing their noses in it as well! Hahahahahaha.
Looks to be a very forward orientated game, so the mid field is there for defence go forward ball. Not sure it fits into Manie style if play or Dud can play next to him. It might work if the boks can string a few places together. Damian to smash it up and then use Manie to weave the ball through the defence to his outside backs.
Willemse at 15 is another concern of mine. Watching him play live I'm not convinced. He lacks vision and only stares straight ahead, wanting to run and step the whole time. Doesn't know how to bring his outside backs to counter with him.
Arendse is a good call. He is just so alert and have super fast reactions.
Don't think we are missing Mpimpi
Can’t believe fucking Mostert is ahead of RG and Kriel at 13 ahead of Moodie
For crying out loud
Van Staaden ahead of Kwagga
The quota policy, the quota policy...
Great quota teams again by the way.
Kids in SA are all going to be mathematics geniuses.

To do what. SA rugby teams do not step on a pitch to play rugby, they do so to prevent the opponent from playing rugby.
It is going to be a ugly game, SC free flowing style is frail to this kind of strategy, up to the point the Scots might avoid playing the style they displayed during the 6Ns.
En die lastige gatvlieg moet sy been kom lig soos 'n oorlamse krotbuurt brak.
Ha ha good one DB
