Come now - we need some comments on the game from a person who was there.   It is amazing that none of the NZ supporters said a word about the AB Under 20 team and the Junior Boks game and the outcome on this site.  They must have been shocked into silence about that one.

This is a repeat of what happened in 2012 and 2013.   The absolute lack of forwards coming from the Junior ranks in New Zealand must really shock the hell out of them.  They had 3 good backline players in the team and that is about it.

I actually expected them to score not more than two tries and I think the third one was a real accident.  By then the game was won by the Junior Boks and that let them not being  interested anymore - they had their bonus point and they had the win anyway.

The commentators was constantly bemoaning the fact that their line out play was extremely poor and that their scrumming even worse.

It is difficult to find outstanding players in a team which overwhelmed the opposition so comprehensively - but I like very much what I saw of Schickerling and Pollard in respect of forward and backline play respectively.   To my mind Pollard is near to ready to play for the Springboks and Schickerling is the up and coming Etzebeth equivalent.

Pity about the injuries - but we have plenty of back up available and I expect three or more players from SA will be summoned to join the squad by Sunday afternoon.   Esterhuizen should be ready to play soon as well.

Mike boklog is probably blotto.Yes indeed the kbbs are more silent than the tomb. No one is fronting up.saSUE for all his bluster is gobsmacked and JW is pretending he never noticed.
I think they are just wondering what would happen to the wee abs if our players are fit and Meyer selects properly. Its a veritable nightmare for the kbbs!

Hi Beeno, Clevermike, et. al.
It seems you wanted some comments on something-or-other from kiwis?
Beeno, I for one respect the need for SA bloggers to have their own time together without kiwis butting in all the time so I refrain from commenting on every topic in the site (I am sure you have noticed ). It's out of respect you understand.
Based on the chest-thumping sounds I heard reverberating all the way from SA over to Europe there must have been some event which has got the weeee SA supporters excited.
Ok, just to cover my bases.... Well done fellas.... congratulations.... well played... so on & so forth. There that should cover it.
Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you.
PS try & avoid using foul language in your reply. It is best if we try & maintain the high standards of this board.

Hi there JW, glad to see you have recovered - faster than the other kbbs I must say. I was worried knowing the fragile egoes of the kbbs as the baby blacks did get  a severe thumping. 3 IQ couldn't be seen for the dust!
Anyhow JW, we face stiffer opposition ahead it appears and the injuries are mounting. Mike however tells me we have good replacements so I remain hopeful of another Bok Junior WC win.
I agree with you JW re the foul language and add to that getting too bitter.
Kiwis must be complimented for having a sense of fun.

 Just Win
Actually I was joking about the issue and the silence of the Kiwi supporters on the Under 20 game today.  After all it is only an Under 20 game in the WC - but that really is not a disaster for NZ Rugby.
What bothers me as a rugby lover is one thing and that is the Junior Boks won the encounters in 2012 and 2013 as well.  That is normally the cradle for future rugby stars in the years to come - say after another two to four years.
Something happened in all three matches - but was particularly noticeable today and that was the way the NZ forwards folded under pressure. in all three matches.   The number of AB forwards coming through can be summed up in one name - Ardie Savea.  Of the Tight 5 players there were none.
Before the match today the commentators mentioned how big the SA players were compared to the NZ players.   What happened in the game was the amazing number of penalties in scrums given away by NZ and the fact that the Junior Boks seems to find it easy to hook balls fed by the NZ scrummie.   The NZ line outs was a disaster gor them as well.
The Under 20 NZ team has had some very good youngsters in the backline - Li, Leinart-Brown and Hickey - and a massively brave full back to boot.   However, even if they won balls in scrums and line-outs it was bad balls and it happened frequently that they tried to pass balls in or near the Junior Boks 22 and ended up in their wn half of the field losing more than 30 meters in territory.  The balls was so bad that they were tackled back, had to recover balls and the whole process was repeated - losing acres in territory.
They ended up having to constantly giving away penalties and for long periods of time was in their own 22 defending.
This is no good for the future of rugby in NZ.   I do think there are enough good backline players coming through - but there seems to be a forward deficiency developing - which with the best of efforts the NZ rugby authorities cannot overcome.
My suggestion is feed the buggers good SA food and you will see how they grow bigger and stronger.  The local mamas are experts in that..   The youngsters seems to be getting bigger and stronger every year.

Beeno: 3ku1 is probably busy helping Cloudy finalise her "Winning formula for Boks?" Which can be accessed by clicking this link: Cloudy may have done it
It seems to be taking a lot longer than anticipated & now almost all kiwis posters from this site are pitching in to help. We can't be in tw o places at once.
Some say that Moz' mathematical calculations had a weee flaw & instead of increasing the winning it increased the whining. Small error but significant. One only hopes he didn't sneak down to the patent office & file a patent on this dud. Clevermike would never let that one go unnoticed, lol
On a more serious note it would be good to hear boklogic's views on the live game. I am sure he will manage to present the subject without going off the deep end

Mike if we managed and retained this talent what could not be achieved.
What is shows again it all start with the forwards. The baby abs backline was possibly at least as good than ours but were snuffed out via good defence and limited good ball. Our backs got loads of good font foot ball and prospered

Clevermike: lol, yes nothing like a good joke.
By the way, it is rumored that the apparent "victory" by the baby boks proves a long held kiwi belief, i.e. the SA players are ok until they reach 20 & then they eat themselves out of the game.  I have heard it said that there is scientific "evidence" which cites the performance of players such as F. Steyn, and w. Alberts.
Apparently one particular poster on this site picked up on this fact long ago - who needs science?

Mike, it was great. Had awesome seats as I left work at 3pm on Friday to get to the stadium. Arrived just before half time of the Italy v Argentina upset. Was seated right on the half way line and could look over into the tunnel when the players enter and exit the field.
Had some irritating Aussies just behind us. You get cheering your side on then you just get ridiculous and there was a young kid in a big group of them that had a high pitched voice and would shout, "YESSSS!" everytime the Aussies did anything. Even make a regulation tackle..
We were in the middle of a pretty awesome group of holidaying South Africans. One of the guys was Pierre Schoeman's (if that is the name of the Jannie Du Plessis looking prop) father and he was good value.Jaco Peyper was there alone. He is in town as he said he was running the lines for the AB v Eng test and next week he is in the middle for the second test. I started by saying "Hey Jaco..Why didnt you let the Sharks win last weekend!"
He just laughed and said its not my fault the scrumhalf kicked the ball away with time up! He was a really nice guy to chat to and see the way he thinks. He says he lives in Bloemfontein in SA but even if he is not reffing, he does not support any rugby team. Weird hey!Got a nice photo with the man. Bryce Lawrence was a few rows up. Son of a bitch still shows face in public!
With regard to the Bok v Nzl game. I only got to watch 70 mins as the last 10 mins my view was obstructed by a wave of Kiwi's leaving their seats, car park bound. Ha ha waht a sight. Boys against men! When they scored the first two tries, those same people were extremely chipper and comments on how bad the Boks are going to lose were being thrown around by a few of their supporters. A guy in front of me shouts out to Handre Pollard, "Hey number 10, you not gona win going up in 3's" when Pollard lined up the goal to take us to 9 points!
I just laughed to myself and there was never one moment in the match where I felt SA would not win. We were battering them back on defence and making easy metres on attack. Tevita Li's first try was a bit of luck as the ball comes popping out of a ruck very suspiciously and we were not defensively aligned as we had the ball, looking to clear our line. None of their tries were well structured. A bit of luck mixed with 1 of Tevita Li's brilliance.
Lloyd Greeff should play NFL not rugby. He should be on the attacking line and not defence. He looks awesome and strong with ball in hand but he could not contain the Tevita Li. He was comprehensively outplayed by Li and missed him on about 3 occassions. Not good enough. I thought Duhan van Der Merwe might have been an option earlier on but he did only arrive less than 48 hours before kick off.
NZL knew they were a beaten side when they stopped kicking penalties to touch. Their lineout was a lottery as was their scrums. As I say, they were inferior to this Bok side in every way.
Toward the end of the game, the NZL pack wanted to get involved in a bit of off the ball pushing and shoving and Pierre's father shouts out, "Your'e not gona win the fight either!" Had everyone who heard laughing and that was a sign that even the AB fans knew they were an inferior team.
Its a little bitter sweet though because it shows how much talent we have in SA. It shows the sheer size, skill, pace and strength of our players yet 95% of these boys will never see a senior Bok jersey and probably 70% of them wont play super rugby. They will be lost in the system..Forced overseas by coaches like Coetzee and co that will prefer Jurrie Van Vuuren to guys like JD Schickerling. Juan De Jongh and Cheslin Kolbe to guys like Kriel and Van Der Merwe. That is just SA rugby for you.
Imagine we switched places with NZL and we left politics and race out of rugby. We had the best coach for the job and he could choose the best players in the country. I tell you what, NZL would be a distant 2nd to us. The kiwi's dont understand what SA rugby goes through and yet we still compete. They wouldn't come close if we had the best coaches choosing SA's best players! We are too big, too fast and too strong!
I would have no issues with the Boks "experimenting" now and dropping anyone 27 and over! We work with the 19 to 27 year olds.

Look no one's doubting SA has talent, but the amount of obnoxiousness on this site is laughable. SA is not the only team in the world with talented players, and they are not the only country in the world who don't have things sorted from top to bottom, and does not mean if they do, that it guareentees SA well suddenly take over the world. And Im not sure who would be worried because NZ lost one game in Under 20, unless this whole team suddenly became the ab side 5 years from now, same with sa which is unlikely, then wont make a difference, just individuals well go on to take part in the international team. And maybe reason why no one commented from NZ, because unlike you they don't live on this site.

Thanks for the report.  Very interesting.
I am disappointed by the defense of Greeff as well.   Letting Li through on two occasions is just not acceptable.  Looks to me his defense is based on the Engelbrecht principle - a weak grab at the opponent's jersey.
I think they would play Van der Merwe against the Samoans and he may yet come into the semis teams as well ahead of Greeff.
Am worried about the number of injuries though.   I think they will have to fly in a few extra players - at least two hookers and one or two loosies to off-set the problem at present.   Dweba is a quota selection and they did not really wanted to play him as a starter in any games.   I guess he will start in the Samo an game - but support will be needed in respect of the hookers.
I guess Esterhuizen will be back for the Samoan and subsequent games - so the center situation is not as problematic as initially thought.
At flank some strengthening will also be needed and they are likely to fly in some other players as well.

Jean-Luc Du Preez will most likely be heading home. A good sign though is that when they took him from the field, they stopped the golf cart in the middle of the tunnel for some reason and a doctor was giving him instructions. He asked him to move his legs which Jean-Luc di with no problem and he could clinch his fists. He had a neck brace on and we were all leaning over to see how he was and cheering him. His eyes were open but he looked like a worried man. Not sure if they ended up taking him to hospital but sure they did. He probably will play no further part in the comp.
3ku1, you wouldn't know that as the AB's choose the best players in the country every year. We do not. Not even close. We have better depth in most positions than NZL but we have to choose players based on bullshit politics.
Look at our depth at lock vs yours for example...Bakkies, Victor, Etzebeth, De Jager, PSDT, Lewies, Willemse would all come in to AB contention. SA would perhaps select Whitelock in our squad but guys like Retallick and Romano wouldn't make it! Not hard or strong enough to what we already have. I will select a squad from SA that if worked with by adequate coaches, would top world rugby no problem! Our players are just bigger, stronger and just as fast...Hone those skills through "Eddie Jones" type coaching and why would NZL win?? Remember, a good big guy will always beat a good small guy!

They did take Du Preez to the hospital during the game for further testing - but I think he was badly concussed and is likely to be out of the series.  I may be wrong - but I think he was around at the end of the game, but may have mixed him up with one of the other players.
We will know by later today what replacements will be joining the squad - but there will inevitably  be some going.  I checked the websites and there is no news yet.
