Boks in Baabaas

With the Barbarians filled with Boks it was interesting to see how our players settled into the traditional expansive playing style. Jean dv: Had a great game and showed some good touches. Lambie: Distinctly average allround. If our other flyhalf options dont put their hands up then we might be stuck with Morne given this showing. Duane: Solid allround, maybe one game too many for the stalwart but he had a good game Schalk: Was everywhere! Excellent link up play. It will be interesting to see how he goes next year. He may come into contention. Bismarck: MVP! Enough said. Beast: Also deserves a rest after another solid game. Willie: Really enjoyed the freedom afforded to him and made a significant impact. Coenie: Showed his mobility and contributed well in a positive display.

Totally agree mick. Did Lambie make one tackle or one kick! By far Schalk's best game since coming back....he was the link in so many moves. 

Funny the commentators thought Lambie had a good game, lying flat and setting his backs up nicely........the fact that he lies flat and asks questions of the defence.....marks the difference between him and useless Morne. Lambie had a damn good game.

Schalk had a great game, but then all the SA'ns did.......but lets face it, it was Fiji's B team

You believe all this hype Dave. The smarmy Pom commentator was on and on about Lambie lying flat, it was on his cheat sheet...and you buy that? What came of his flatness, did he beat a tackle, did he put Jean through the gap. No he just passed the ball to the next  man. And he missed a heap of tackles, including the tackle leading to the first Fiji try. And how many kicks did he miss.

Nope just agreeing with Barnes who was spot on........by lying flat you ask questions......look no further than his chip kick that set up Jean's second try......had he been deep as Morne stands, the chip would never have been on.

Yes I saw Lambie attacking the gain line often and he only missed one tackle and made 5. Unlike Jean who only made 2 and missed 1, or Schalk who made 9 and missed 2, when Luatua missed none.

He did not make any breaks but set up others twice with offloads.

Lambie is a much better 10 than Morne

Im no supporter of Morne Steyn but he gets lambasted for not finding touch with penalty kicks. Lambie missed touch from the 22. He had a shocking first 20 minutes. Thereafter he gradually improved. He just hasnt put his hand up and has been given ample opportunities. The backplay improved a lot when Willie came on and slotted into the 10 channel often. In an open game Lambie only once put someone in space  

How the hell has Lambie been given ample opportunities given bloody Morne always gets picked?

Last year EOYT, he played against Wales and Scotland this time around. Steyn is at best solid but Lambie isnt the answer. The Barbarians would have ran up a big score if Tom Taylor started. All of this isnt Pat's fault. It looks like we have taken a talented player and tried to create a Morne clone out of him.  

 That loose trio had me salivating, all three of them complemented each other, none of them are outright fetchers or crashballers, they've got the skill set of everything loose forwards play . Not impressed with Frank Halai, liked the combination of Le Roux and Piutau, was also impressed by the small Argie fullback.  

No, giving Lambie an opportunity is playing him in 10 test in a row......not 2 or 3 here and there.

Goosen is my first choice, with Lambie second. Morne should not feature at all

Some players grab those one-off opportunities forcing continuous selection. Lambie has more talent than Morne but is less consistent. The more mature he becomes the more his game seems a replica of Morne's. His ability has been coached out of him. I agree that he is a backup option at best 

 Back-up to Goosen, never Morne

 Lambie was fine - he has the head and BMT to setlle well at flyhalf. But he has competition so needs to woerk hard. One wonder how much game time Sweil will get next year at the sharks. Zeelinga is also talented. 

Beeno: you see what good Kiwi coaching can do, even the Boks players looked good. Willie, Burger, they all played at their best. Well done Hansen - you did it again mate!! 

Not the greatest of games, to many handling errors. Some really good play from both sides. Burger looked really good. His link play has improved tremendously. If he can play at same quality next then year would be great. Loved one of the tries where both Jean and Burger showed fantastic touches, especially the final pass by burger, taking 2 men and off loading to create the try. Reminded me of Reid.
