The Springboks have moved up two places to No 5 on the official World Rugby rankings released on Monday.

This follows their 36-34 upset win over the All Blacks in Wellington at the weekend.

The Boks swap places with the Wallabies, who dropped two spots to No 7 following a 23-19 loss to Argentina on Australia's Gold Coast.

The South Africans gained two ratings points, while Australia dropped two to slump to their lowest ever ranking.

New Zealand’s first home defeat since they lost to the British and Irish Lions in July 2017 has seen their lead over Ireland at the top of the rankings cut to 2.40 points.

Los Pumas also gained two ratings points for their win but they remain ninth behind France.

Bad news for Mozart and co - they were still hoping for replacement of Erasmus and for that purpose lies and misrepresentation is necessary,   The change will not be welcomed by them.

Be it as it may,   If the Springboks manage to beat both Australia and NZ in the remaining two RC tests the Springboks will move up to position 3 in the rankings.   The win against Australia is possible - another win against the AB's can be regarded as unlikely.  I am not saying it cannot happen.

Although the NZ papers apparently cry foul about one refereeing decision - there is a clear indication that there are a string of refereeing decisions that favoured the AB's.   A fair referee in fact may not grant so many questionable penalties to the AB's and that could benefit the Springboks in the home test.   All I could say in this case is that I would not like to be in Owens' position after that test performance.     He is likely to get a roasting by Sanzaar ref authority.

Who will be the referee in the next Springbok-AB test?

Owens just had a bad game in general in my opinion. Got a bunch of calls wrong, going both ways. Like Mostert being lifted out of the mall so that his feet were in the air above his head. And the two SA players being offside right at the end of the game. In that case he even ignored the linesmen. Nope, he just had a bad game in general. Both teams where helped and hindered by him.

Not one person that I can recall on this board has called for Erasmus to be replaced, or has hoped for his replacement. Question marks were rightly raised over the direction he was taking the team in after the loss to Argentina and the incompetent display against the weakest Aussie side in recent memory. You're doing a lot of chest beating for someone who didn't give the Boks a rat's chance in hell of beating the All Blacks in the first place.

I just re-read the article, I see the Aussies are now at their lowest ranking ever. We laugh about such things, but I wonder if this won't mean an even bigger drop in support in Australia for rugby union? That would not be good for world rugby. Surely Argentina should have moved up as well? They have just beaten two teams well above them in the rankings and one of those wins was away from home.

Yeah you're right, they did gain two points though, just not enough to boost them above France into 8th.

Pakie

In dealing with Mozart you must always be ready for duplicity and misrepresentations.

Before Erasmus was appointed they screamed murder and raised a number of the same false stories  created by Mozart and Ceradunce.   None of them had any proof of what they wrote and ignored the contract issue totally.

The same BS was repeated before the test against the AB's last week.   What reasonable conclusion can be drawn from what they wrote?

As to the rating issue Mozart bemoaned the fact that a loss against NZ was not going to move SA even to a lower rating.

So get out of the set of Mozart and look at things objectively.   He is a poisonous snake that will be deadly for his minions in the longer run.

If SA beat the All Blacks, that should be enough to put the Boks into the third position. However, the All Blacks must start as strong favourites as they are going to be much more hungry for the win, after the surprise loss.

I think the Boks must be strong favourites against perhaps the weakest Australian team in the professional era.  The Australian tight five is useless, so it is probably not a coaching issue.
If Australia lose to the Boks, then go to Argentina and lose again, they might drop to 9th position....

Bad news? I already had this calculated thanks to the link from Chabal. Where was my disappointment then? When have I ever been happy for the Boks to fail? When have I called for Rassie to be fired? In fact, I said the very opposite. I stated that we are fast running out of options and that we need some continuity in the position. I bemoaned that we chop and change too much, that with each new coach comes a clean slate and we start from the beginning all over again.

You just can't help yourself. If you could literally lie through your backside you'd be jumping in and out of it like a lion performing a circus trick.

The funny thing is this: After I express some optimism, Lügnerin proceeds to set me straight, proclaiming doom and gloom. Which one is it Lüg? Is Rassie the man, or is he a doomed failure? Herr Lügnerin doesn't think these things through. I have already observed he is very emotional. Emotion which supercedes rational or coherent thought. Externalizing his own flawed traits on to others and misinterpreted communication are other issues.

AgainBSter

I never mentioned you by name a one of those who wanted Erasmus out and was hoping for  a further downgrade - so don't feel guilty.   I actually warned Pakie to be careful of the snakes he associates with.

However, whatever you wrote is so slanted you may feel welcome in being with them.   You should in fact consult with them when you write anything on site.   They are experienced in slant and you are still a learner.    Or maybe it is that I am wrong in that after all - crooked birds flock together.  The Afrikaans term is better - soort soek sort.   And then there is the other Afrikaans term - niks wat iets geword het.   That is why as a child I as told to be careful of low class people and that is where I learn to detest the Mozart types.

Anyway - I have known Mozart and ceradunce long enough to know what their real objective in their postings are.   Disagree with them is dangerous - they like arsecreepers and live in the past.   Rugby is not their sport - character assassination is when it comes to players, coaches and site members.   And they cary on with their dubious campaigns for years repeating the same BS over and over again.   When they get cornered they are suddenly the only world rugby experts who see things they have conjured up as fact even though it is utter BS and nobody else saw it.

Live with it.   You are typically happy to be in the diry Mozart pig sty.

They want the return of White or Meyer despite the fact that White was fired by the Sharks because of coaching and personal deficiencies - he broke his contract with the Brumbies and he caused havoc in the team because of personal favouritism, leading to a rebellion against him amongst players.   Meyer is their favourite since his selection of rugby geriatrics was his specialty and the total absence of a game plan does not bother them.

Perhaps they would also prefer Matfield - despite his abject failure as aa Attack Assistant Coach for the Bulls - and the totally inexperienced Du Preez.   Another move back to the Bulls game plan of more than decade ago would be on the cards - tough Meyer tries to sue it in 2015 and it failed miserably -- remember the Japan test!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did I say I wanted Matfield or Du Preez for anything?

Your attack on the Bulls is funny, because I don't support the Bulls. I don't advocate the gameplan you think they played. That said, if we can do what the Bulls were doing in 2009 and 2010 we'd be a very dominant team. The linebreak to try ratio in 2009 was the most efficient I have ever seen in Super rugby. In 2010 they were shredding defences. I'd definitely take that, who wouldn't?

So, I want you to tell me what the gameplan for the Japanese test was. Tell me what patterns the Boks used and what plays they used. Tell me what they were trying to achieve with each series of phases. Then explain to me why it didn't work.

I see you speak alot about the "Meyer" gameplan, but you have yet to define what this actually is. I'll give you a clue though, it's very close to what Australia were doing. Let's see if you can connect the dots.

EDIT: I see you made some changes. Where were the Sharks before White? The finished 8th. Where did they finish with Jake? 3rd, having led the league for most the rounds. They were semi-finalists. Where did where they after Jake? 11th. So, who was the failure?

He coaches the Brumbies, who had removed 17 players from the season before, to 7th. Where they only lost one game by more than 7 points, most were 3 or less. Impressive. The following year, they make the finals. The Brumbies have been in decline since he left.

You are so horribly biased. It makes me laugh knowing how worked up you get about it. I'll always be here to remind you of the truth. I know it'll sting each and every time.

Well to get back to my original statement - Mozart in fact was upset when he mentioned that a loss against the AB's - why mention it otherwise after making numerous statements that the team is on the way down further because of Erasmus.

In dealing with Mozart he is always consistent in attacking his pet hate players, coaches and individual members,   One has to look beyond individual comments and look at what he mentioned all over site in his relentless campaigns.  He was very happy at  the downgrade to 7 - and that was clearly part of his anti-Erasmus campaign.

On the whole throughout  the past decade Mozart has been consistent in duplicity, distortion of fact and personal attacks on members and one can make accurate deductions from his ever-repeated contributions on site.  There is no other member with such repetitive contributions over the past decade.
