Instead of playing CurryCup, the first choice match day squads would be better served by rest, as well as gameplan strategizing, low contact practice, skills, defence etc.
Some players are in need of game time after injury, or from not being in the matchday squads during the 4 nations.
So at first glance, it would appear who is not being considered as matchday squad by their availability in Curry Cup? Although it not clear how the decisions have been made....
The Boks have 4 difficult tests, and the plan is to overplay lots of the squad players by making them available for Curry Cup duty....
Golden Lions
Elton Jantjies - Jantjies may now be the third choice, behind Willemse. Need time to blood Willemse for flyhalf as backup to Pollard.
Aphiwe Dyantyi - This makes no sense. Surely it would be better to having him practising with the Boks - and especially fielding up and under's, practising defensive patterns etc. Skosan gives the Lions plenty of options
Lionel Mapoe- A worthy backup, but certainly not a preferred starting option. Defence seems a bit suspect, although attack is very good.
Blue Bulls
Trevor Nyakane - Lots of injury. Good prop cover for the Boks, as can cover both loose and tight head. With injury and his overeating, probably best to get game time.
Marco van Staden - The evidence so far suggests he is useless. Perhaps a one-way ticket...
Ivan van Zyl- I am not sure why he was in the squad to start with- other than little to no other options.
Embrose Papier - It seems more sensible to keep him with the Boks if he is 2nd choice.
Sharks
Sbu Nkosi - Short of game time after injury, Need to get back into form to earn starting bok
Western Province
Wilco Louw - Makes no sense. He was overplayed this year, and now they want him to play in the Curry Cup.
Bongi Mbonambi - Makes no sense if he is the 2nd choice Bok hooker.
Sikhumbuzo Notshe - I have seen nothing to suggest he should be in the Bok Squad
Damian Willemse - The first choice Bok centre playing Curry Cup???
Ruhan Nel - This is obvious, he never had any game time
