Willie 2/2 Dyantyi 0/1 Pollard 4/0 Faf 2/4 Marx 5/3 Beast 4/0 Malherbe 4/2 Mostert 5/2 Louw 8/4 Kolisi 7/1 Whiteley 7/0 stephanie 2/2 A very poor tackling display by the Boks who made 47 of 74 tackles at 64%. If you want to know why we lost look no further.....we need to be tackling in the high eighties. Caveat..... these are preliminary stats that might change a bit.

Mozart

However, the problem is not only the stats of the whole team that is problematic - the real problems are -

*   the Argentinian backline ran circles around the Springboks and despite that they missed 10 and made 10 tackles - a very poor performance;

*   the looses are supposed to make many more tackles than they did  and the matter as complicated further by Louw's missed tackle ratio,

Not good news - but what was worse about the backline - they lost ball possession 11 times.

Really? The loosies are supposed to make more tackles. The three starting loosies made 22 of 47 tackles......or 46.9% of our tackles And that supposedly is not enough. Let's test that theory against Oz who in Hooper and Pocock have two of the most prolific tacklers in the game. Today Oz made 100 tackles of which the loosies made 37 or 37%. Just to double check NZ made 122 tackles....42 by the loosies or 34%...granted there was some subbing. So no Tokkie, as usual you have sucked that out of your thumb. The loosies made more than their fair share of tackles at a much higher success rate than the whole team.

The perspective gone again?   The average tackles per lossie combination should be around at least 10 to 12 per player. The three loosies op the Argentinians  made 42 tackles missing 8 - the Springbok loosies made 22 missing 5.

The loosies  in the other test also proved what I said conclusively,   The percentage you based your argument on is at best BS - because for instance the fact that the backline was bad does not mean the low rate performance of the loosies can be justified.

Look at the actual figures of the loosies in the other test and those of the Argentinians and work  it out yourself.

The average tackles per lossie combination should be around at least 10 to 12 per player.

Says who?

Okay, now that the stats have been updated and adjusted to probably close to final versions:

SA loosies made 27/90 tackles = 30%

Argie loosies (including sub) made 47/169 tackles = 27%

Oz loosies (including subs) made 40/139 tackles = 28%

NZ loosies (including subs) made 46/153 tackles = 30%

So Bok loosies are on par with NZ as to percentage of tackles made.

----

Total tackle attempts:

Arg - 205 (169/36) 82% success

NZ - 184 (153/31) 83% success

Oz - 178 (139/39) 78% success

Boks - 122 (90/32) 74% success

Boks had far less tackles to make since they dominated possession, so naturally their tackle count across the board will be lower, loosies included.

Shall we call that statement what it really is - utter BS.  The fact is that you should only need to look at test stats over a period to see that a tackle count of 7 to 8 tackles per loosie is about 30% below par for test players.

And to compare percentages like you and Mozart tried to do is total misrepresentation of what should happen.   Besides that the Argentinians ran circles around the ASpringboks and there should have been better defense and in some cases tackles should have been attempted and there was zero made.

Because the backline stats are poor - does not mean that the loosies should be equally poor.

I know you always want to find fault with what I wrote - but can you please start thinking before you write BS on site especially if that BS is started by Mozart.   .

You're welcome to make up your own mind Mike, I'm just giving the figures.

I do take issue though with you comparing the Argie loosie tackle count with the Bok loosie tackle count while the Argies as a team had to make almost double the amount of tackles the Boks had to make. The fair way to put those figures into perspective is as a percentage of the whole.

Or the Springbok loosies should have attempted some and never even tried.   Same with the other players.

Another stupid Tokkie assertion.......the number of loosie tackles is not a function of the total tackles made. Face it, this is one you got wrong again....and just can't admit it.

The only fools who claimed that with their delusional percentages are Mozart and Pakie,  I claimed nothing fool - other than the fact  that our loosies'  tackle stats are below par compared to other loosies playing international rugby.  Can you not understand plain English?????????

Why don't you go through each phase Argentina played and tell us where each loose forward should have made more tackles. I'll be gathering notes later, so you can borrow that if you are too lazy to do some research.

Yes gather your notes please and try and cover up deficiencies by providing smoke screen descriptions.

I don't cover up anything, I bring everything to the surface. That's the difference between the two of us. As I said, why don't you talk us through each ruck. I'll have my notes, how about you. Tell us which tackles each loose froward should have made.

LMAO  - what an assertion that is by the guy who kept quiet about a failed penalty line kick and found a false reason for it and then blamed another player who missed a tackle - just one example of dozens.   .

I never kept quiet about that kick. I didn't blame the try exclusively or that kick. That's the difference. The Aussies advanced 60m because of two poor tackles. Two tackles led to the try. Lambie shooting out of the line didn't help either. Was nowhere insight when the last break was made. All that, but you preach that Morné directly lost that test.

When I reference Damian kicking right into the hands of a Lambie, catching his teammates so off guard that half the field was undefended, you went quiet. He directly gave the Sharks a try and did it with aimless kicking. Two things you supposedly abhore most. Oh the irony.

Always projecting yourself onto others.
