Boks vs ABs Twickers
That's right, I want to have Moodie's children and his grandchildren.
I got dibs.
It wasn't his first game at 13...it was for the Boks, but that is his position.
Moodie is on 5 tries in 5 games.
No, it's not 4, because in the AB game, he was connected to the ruck until the ball came out and then broke off. If anything, you could say that Moodie kicked the ball out of the collecting player's hands. But that doesn't seem to be what the refs were looking at.
So, he's on one score a game, much like Will Jordan, whose kids I'd also have. That guy, much like Moodie, has that special thing that makes you wanna watch him...or have his kids.
And when you look at the scores he's(Moodie) made, aside from the cross-kick collection, he made them with intercepts and catching high balls and genrally having rugby IQ beyond his years. A bigger attacking threat than Am, for me...my opinion Saffex...you know that thing we're entilted to?
"So from then on Carley had his microscope on the ABs!"
Coping is what this is. The Kiwi skipper was saying the Boks were lifting across the line...Moola said Eben was holding Mostert up for too long. Basically, the cards were bogus, the ref was victimising the ABs and the whole thing is just such a farce. Well, that's from the Kiwi perspective. From EVERYBODY else's perspective, the ref was spot on and the Kiwis got demolished by a far better team on the day.
"Was it clear and obvious Cane came in from the side on the maul to earn a yellow??"
You gonna question that call with a straight face, Moola?
The reason the Abs had 14 on the field was because they couldn't hang with the Boks. The simply got monstered.
The only people who are complaining about the ref or asking whether Scott deserved to be carded are Kiwis. The only ones complaining about the bunker and how long the game took...you guessed it, the Kiwis.
As i said immediately after the game, the Kiwis can take great solice in how they held out under sustained pressure at the start of the game. They lost, they got well and truly thumped, but that defense on their line was something else. And it may very well be that is what gets them the WC because I can't remember any team in recent memory holding out that well, against anyone, for such a long period of time. It's more than a silver lining, it's a strong sign of how well organised the Kiwis are on their line.
And here is Nigel Owens covering it(the second yellow card)...it's the first incident he talks about.
The telling thing is that the Kiwis couldn't deal with the Boks giving them zero respect for 80 minutes. Over the years they've gotten used to teams standing back and letting them run. Being afraid of them and kicking the ball back to them. The world was watching on Friday. I'm kinda excited to see how the ABs respond when their backs are to the wall. It does make it easier to appreciate them when they're not front-runners. If they respond well, it'll be good for the AB brand.
All in all, we are well set up for a WC that is likely going to see its best games in the pool stages and quarters.
"Fuck me" - No thanks Fattex.
Now, I don't know if you have a wife, so by your scumbag logic, I could make some comments about her...
But since I'm not a low life, foulmouthed, fat bastard such as yourself, I shall refrain.
See how that works?
You act like a complete little wanker for years on end, and people still treat you with kid gloves and refrain from using your wanker tactics.
...jou vet poes.
Plum, look up the definition of “binding” in the laws where it says you must grasp another player’s body “with the whole arm in contact from hand to shoulder”. Moodie clearly was only resting his hand on the other Bok so the ref’s and TMO’s call was correct.
You haven’t commented on Etsebeth holding Mostert up in the air for an extended period in the first 2 line outs??? A clear infringement!
And, can you show me a clip that clearly demonstrates how Cane joined the maul from the side because I can’t find one!
My bad Moola,
I read the post quickly and thought you were on about the Scott incident.
A pal of mine who played for the US Eagles walked across two fairways to effuse about the Boks’ win. It has certainly reverberated. But I think the Delta in optimism after the game is overdone. This is still the same team that beat the Bargies by a point in Ellis Park. Hold on ….Dud Allende and Kriel played in that match.
Well played.
And lost the 2015 WC because Nonu exposed the …er…mighty Dud at 12.
The Boks left a few tries out there...
Without Retalick, the All Blacks cheerleaders are masquerading as forwards and no match for the power of the Mighty Boks.
Retalick is the key man, and I can't see the All-Black pack being consistent enough to go all the way without him
On current form, I would rather face the All Blacks in the quarters than the French.
However, that could all change depending on World Cup form.
Moolaa
Just to add to your observations.......it took the Boks nigh on 18 minutes and the assistance of two AB sendoffs to score their first try.
The ABs were excellent in defence even with 13 players.
The Boks main weapon of attack is still the rolling maul even though with regard to skill and pace they have the best backline in the history of Springbok rugby were they to substitute Williams for Faf and Kolbe for Mapimpi.
Other tries came from broken not structured play.
The Boks now have ball players in Willemse, Williams, Arendse, AM, AE, Kolbe and Moodie. Enough to compete with the best team in world rugby the ABs.
The Boks will finish the WC with an underperforming backline due to poor backline coaches.
The Boks have the cattle and style of play to win the WC.
I wouldn't write off or underestimate the AB's just yet, beating them playing as a full team would be a far more accurate measure.
I've never been an Erasmus fan but take a bow Rassie I think a 7/1 split is a masterstroke perfectly designed for a tournament like the WC. Ask the English after they left it all out there in their semi against your lot only to run on empty against the Boks in the 2019 final.
Look who's back... The mushroom king .
You forgot to add that the ABs had just got off the boat.
We see this often with traveling teams... no show due to metabolism travel issues.
The AB's are still a classy side that could easily beat any side in the world on any given day.
You would be incredibly stupid to write off their chances of winning this world cup
Will the Boks and Ireland charge into the QFinals on the back of a titanic tussle or will one or both be flattened by that game and be ripe for ......"
The Irish will be not the Boks as the advantage of having a Bomb Squad kicks in.
Even more daunting is the fact that one of Ireland, South Africa or NZ will not make it past the quarterfinals!
Bold predictions for the hardest WC ever.......all I know is that the winner will come out of either the Irish, Boks, France or NZ. England and Oz have no chance. Argentina have a bit of grunt and with a bit of luck could cause an upset.
NZ are going get hammers by France...15 points.
Yep, told my mates, France by more than 10 points
Welcome back Dense.
Yes, the Pumas are also my dark horse. They're in decent form, they nearly always pitch up at a RWC and they're in the soft half of the draw.
Not sure they're good enough to win it but they're a good bet to make the semis and any thing can happen from there.
I see there are big questions as to how Ireland (1) Boks (2) and Scotland (5) all end up in the same Pool.
Tx Rooi........think it's the best WC ever, there's never been one with anyone of four teams in the mix with equal chances. Guess it also comes down to a process of elimination when two of those four teams clash and one is eliminated as early as the quarters.
ps Just got back from a month long stay in South Africa. Stayed with a sister in JHB for a week and was thinking of touching base with you over a coffee but things got away from me and I dropped the idea. Didn't think it's possible but the country seems to be in even worse shape now than it was when I last visited in 2017.
The weather in Cape Town was awesome but that's because it's the only thing the ANC can't lay their filthy paws on.
BTW the Melbourne spring carnival kicks off this coming Saturday and ends a week after the Melbourne Cup. The overseas horses and trainers are yet to arrive and walk away with our prize money
The Argies forwards stood up to us better than any other pack this year.
I think playing us and the ABs regularly gives them belief.
Welcome back Dense I hope you have come back a wiser and more sensible poster!
I note a distinctly more positive tone on the board. I said from the beginning the Boks are serious contenders. That seems to be the consensus view now after much unseemly lamenting and wailing by some oaks - Mozzzzquito, Deus and of course Kornyking who had a complete meltdown.Hahahahahaha.
Howzit Den...I'm losing hope for my country...the more we hope and believe things would go better, the worse it gets...they say things in the Western Cape is better, that's a lie, the rot is just slightly slower than the rest...despite valiant efforts by some...
...and there goes the power!!! Befok!!!
"they say things in the Western Cape is better, that's a lie, the rot is just slightly slower than the rest...despite valiant efforts by some"
Can't agree at all Db
I very often travel between the different provinces, and by far, the Western Cape has a much cleaner and more effective and productive infrastructure than anywhere else in the country.
Maybe the rot is slightly slower, but there certainly is still a vast difference .... and I definitely see it and experience it all the time.
BTW, what is the latest regarding the WC going independently ....
"BTW, what is the latest regarding the WC going independently ...."
That would be fantastic, but I don't see it happening...the ANC will never allow it...people are streaming in from the rest of the country in massive numbers...especially from the Eastern Cape...we are fighting a losing battle...I really hope I'm wrong.
