allabies scrum-half Will Genia believes the Springboks will be highly motivated when the teams clash in Cape Town on Saturday.
Genia, who was recalled to Australia's Test squad recently, expects the Boks to be in a different mode to the side which lost to the Wallabies in Perth as they look to defend their status as the second-placed team in the world rankings.
Australia haven't beaten South Africa at Newlands since 1992, losing their past seven matches there and suffered a 28-8 loss when the sides played there last year.
Genia, who is expected to be amongst the replacements this weekend, said although the Wallabies did well to beat the Boks in Perth, the host will rise to the occasion at Newlands.
''The boys can take confidence in knowing they beat them in Australia and can take it to them,'' he told AAP.
''But it's going to be hard.
''You look at the South African side that turned up against the All Blacks in Wellington (losing 14-10), that was a completely different team in terms of their approach and their mentality to the one that played the Wallabies in Perth.
''And they grow an extra leg when they go back home so it's going to be tough.
''Playing in Cape Town against the Springboks is as big as playing the All Blacks in New Zealand.''
Genia believes if they win on Saturday it would be the Wallabies' best victory under coach Ewen McKenzie, who has won 11, lost seven and drawn one Test since replacing Robbie Deans last year.
''To know you can beat a side like them on their home ground would be a huge boost for the confidence of the group,'' he added.
''Last year we got taught a lesson over here."
