There were three major problems and a number of minor issues to be addressed by the Stormers and those are specifically the following:-

*    The Etzebeh injury occurred because he was not supported at all when he jumped in an effort to capture a line out thrown in by Boland.   He came down awkwardly - thus resukting in the injury - where was his support - why was it entirely missing?

*    Coleman was a major problem - he in fact was already poor in the first match and absolutely dismal on Satirday.   This one is clueless - he does not read the game and kicks aimlessly when he should actually pass the ball and vice versa.   His kicking game collapsed completely.

*      The Stormers has a major scrummie problem.  Duvenhage was seriously deficient and so was Groom.   Too many forward and bad passes tha caused turnovrs were in evidece.

The minor problems are the following:-

*   Taute had an excellent game - but he has to work on his passing game when he joins the backline.    At least one poor pass to De Allende cost the Stormers a certain try.

*    De Allende played an excellent game - he had a major roll in two tries and reads the game very well - however, he should not take on two much in traffic.   One advantage he has was he makes a lot of ground in such situations - but in one case lost the ball in the process.   His defence was rock solid - he regularly tackled opponents back and s a result turnovers is really possible.

*    Elstadt had a miracle game and was everywhere.   Really top class - but not always supported properly by his teammates - better follow-up support would have had vry good esults for the Stormers.

*    Kolisi was nowhere to be seen in the first half - he knocked on the first ball he received - but was very prominent in the second half.  He needs some way to go before higher honours can be assured

*   De Villiers did well in the try he scored - but was less effective than De Allende was when he was moved to the no 12 position.   He should be kept at 13.

*    Too many penaltes was given away by the Stormers and they need to show better discipline.

On the whole a good game - very entertaining to watch and I am sure the bad elements will be liminated by the time the Suer Series starts.

Mik eyou actually misse dthe major deficiency whch wa sthe lineouts. Deon Fourie, a bit rusty etc, missed his jumpers  a number of times. Oherwise he was very good.

Etzebeth isou tfor 6 weeks and tha ti sno t anic eway to start the season but Elstadt can move to lock.

The scrum was very good against the opposition provided. Kolisi was okay and got hug eacclaim fo rbeing on the receiving end of passes thatled to tries without to much work. No ways is he near to international rugby.

I ahve littl problem with our resourc of scrummies. Coleman is a reserve and maybe 4th in the pecking order so no  problem there.

I do not like the way Allistair is bringing on Du Plessis and Howard.  Dispite this great squad I still doubt the coaching ability we have. Senior players will need to put their hands up and get the job done.

Allende  is a great find. I thought however that Joe outplayed Taute. Taute is in for a fight to own the number 15 jersey. Not  a bad thing of course. Schreuder was again surpringly good at flyhalf.  Nice to have this versatility.

I certainly intented to include the inaccurate line-out throw-ins - but when I wrote the assessment after watching the game a second time I unfortunately forgot to add that one.   Thanks for a valued addition.

I also read somewhere how good Pietersen was at full back - but do not agree that he was better than Taute.   He did join the backline once - but it did not result in much.   Taute in that respect was much better and I had no problem wih his positional  play as well.   The only slightly irritating problem was Taute's passing game that failed in two cases - but I am sure that will improve as well.   Wonder why hey did not give Taute a few shots at goal after Coelman fouled up so badly?   He is a fairly good goal kicker as was proven when he played for the Lions.

As to Kolisi - I know Saffex is going to go ballistic about Kolisis - and I wanted to clear matters up.   To my mind any player could have scored to of the tries - the third one was also an assisted try.   For th rest he was really nowhere to be seen.   It bothers me - but was slightly mild in my criticism.   Did not want to give Saffex a seizure.

The situation with Schreuder is that the kid has ball sense and can read games very well.   I would base on Saturdays game prefer hm as scrummie and move him to flyhalf in emergency situations. Have always liked the kid.

Elsatdt has Bok written all over him. It was a disgrace that Meyer never invited him to the Bok training camp.

I prefer Elstadt to Alberts, the guy is a mongrel, just like Etzebeth and Bismark. I'd have Elstadt in my Bok set-up.

Kolisi was probably our best lossie last year or certainly up there with Coetzee. This kid has Bok written all over him as well.

Kolisi is my choice for Bok 6, its between him and Brussouw. Louw is a great player, but not a 6, he is better suited to 7

I agree re comments made by Etzebeth, Bismark and Elsatdt. Ou rtw obes tnumbe 6 players ar eLouw and deon Fourie and bothare worl dclass. Brussouw and kolisis have a lot of catching up to do based on last seasons form.

Deon Fourie is stronger over the ball, faster and a more clever player than either brussouw or kolisi. Kolisi collapsed in a heap as the season went on. He has some growing up to do and then we  can think again.

Wake up snapster you are fast asleep re Deon Fourie. Louw is the perfect big number 6. Again wake up snapster!!

I will say however that if you wanted to play two fetcher type flankers you couldnt do better than playing Deon Fourie and Louw at 7. Add in Coetzee at 8 and you are ready for Loftus but not Twicks - there you need the bruisers - Louw, Vermuelen, Alberts, Elstadt and Burger types. At most one small loosie.

In reality I was disappoined by Kolisis's performance in the first half - he really was invisible and did nothing contructive. The only times he was seen as being on th field of play was when he knocked on a ball and missed two tackles.   In the second half he was more visible and he was only thus on three occassions - when h in fact scored tries.  One was following a pushoever by the forwards and he was at the back of the maul and had the ball in hand - the other was when he was passed th ball with an open trieline in front of him and the third one he was assisted by Sttenkamp - who helped in pushing him over the line.

In essence he does not have Bok written all over him and needs to show a hell-of-a-lot more to even make the Stormers side on a regular basis.
