Now this is pathetic.....Victor and Morne must be crying in their beer watching these imitation Bools. The fool commentator calls it courageous defence as they cede mucho points to the Jaguares in the second half. The Bools finally get a maul try with help from the ref and the Jaguares come back with ease and score a brilliant try. The offloading of the Jaguares light years ahead of Mitchell's charges. Bools get a consolation try but Gelant drops the ball right in front of his posts and in go the 14 man Bargies again. Total dominance.

LOL...Just seen this now...up early to go fishing...Saffas and Ol'Maaikie will go into a a flat spin...panic will set in as usual.

While most of SA slept the Big Cats of South America feasted on well-hung Beef Steaks from the northern province of South Africa...weeping and nashing of teeth...the weeping coming from Mike and company and the nashing of teeth from the hungry Jaguars of S America

Poor ol' Bluebok probably turned maroon....Bahahahahahahahaha

Glad I didnt stay up to watch it. Sounds like it was a trainsmash.

Finally the Barbies are looking like a test team playing club sides.

Looking forward to seeing if this form carries over into the RC.

The Jaguars are hitting their straps and could be a major contender for the coming WC.

Let's face it ... it's about friggin time. We've expected their national side to be within the top three in this competition right from the start. They've been very disappointing these last few seasons.

Glad to see them doing so well.

Hope it continues.

Noel Marrais Donkeys would have been destroyed yesterday. The Bulls of 2018, are certainly better than the Bulls on 2017.
In Meyers first season at the Bulls, they lost every single game. (or nearly every game). His team did get better over the years- especially as he recruited more talent like Habana, Fourie Dupreez etc.
On paper, the Jaguars have a much better team and only now starting to play well. They are looking on par with the Crusaders- in that they have a physical pack and good backs.

The Bulls will get stronger as they recruit more players. The loose forwards are average at best, as are the wings. They are also light at centre, and could do with a backup fullback as well. They need more mongrel in the pack- in addition to their newly improved skill set of being able to catch and pass.
A player like Pollard and co will only get better playing with a game plan.

Mozart

So it was reason for Morne and Matfield to cry in their beer.   What two atrocious examples this idiot comes up with.   Remember Morne's shit games for years on end and the joke in bad taste  Matfield became in 2014 and 2015.

Instead of identifying where things went wrong for the Bulls yesterday objectively the fool started with the above comments.

So what really went wrong?   First and foremost was moving Pollard to center - a move our local village idiot supported all out in the past.   Playing Libbock at flyhalf was a huge mistake as well.   The two combined became a highway for attacks and their defense was atrocious.  They made combined 9 tackles and missed 6.   That is a slight improvement on Morne in the Perth test in 2014  when the latter made 8 tackles and missed 7.

One cannot have a channel where defense goes missing and hope for anything better.  Mitchell apparently decided to try the move advocated by simpletons to move Pollard to center and it did not work out.

Pollard's  defense was always the poor component in his game - yesterday was another proof of that.   He is for that reason no center and I suppose our local village idiot will now revert back to Fat Fransie - an even worse center.

Furthermore I support the point of view that the Jaguares is virtually a carbon copy of the Argentine national team,   In the past they were plagued by red and yellow cards and large numbers of penalties and their discipline was atrocious - this year it was eliminated  and the results were obvious.  They always had good players - but self-destructed too often.

Bad travellers...never seem to play well overseas even when they were at their best...just as well they were exposed as they would not stand a chance in playoffs away. I find this strange...at Loftus they take on another form...very strange...they need support from fan's to lift their game. Check this out however they don't do too badly in Durban or Cape Town. I don't have the stats but just from memory.

The Bools have gained some offloading skills, but they have lost their prowess under the high ball, their mauling dominance, their lineout dominance....and their huge edge in physicality. They aren't a team to be feared. So let's look at the Bools in the Matfield /Steyn era 2005....Semi 2006 Semi 2007 Champions 2009 Champions 2010 Champions. Three championships in four years.....a record only matched by the Crusaders. Far too much chest beating about Mitchell's Bools. Sure they are better than the Bools under the previous dud, who incidentally was also hailed at the start as the next coming. Funny stuff from silly fans.

So the poor defense of he Bulls backline meant nothing?   And fact is the Bulls missed De Jager - he was always the one organizing the forwards and if he is not there the Bulls forwards become    clueless.

Meyers record started in 2000, where he was fired twice from the same job. Third time lucky- and with a golden generation of Boks, he was able to build a good team.

Meyer was appointed head coach of the Bulls for the 2000 Super 12 season, taking over from Eugene van Wyk.

While at the Bulls, the side finish second to last, with only 1 win 2000 was the worst season ever for the team, having failed to qualify for the top eight of the Currie Cup.

In 2001, he replaced Eugene van Wyk, at the Blue Bulls Curry Cup team, while also being dismissed from his post with the Bulls in the Super 12 due to poor results in 2000.

(FIRED)

Meyer returned to Pretoria in 2002 as full-time coach with the Bulls at Super 12 and Currie Cup. The Bulls finished last during the 2002 Super 12 season with no wins, and like in 2000, with dismissed from his post.[3] 4] (FIRED AGAIN)

He returned to the Bulls in 2005 where the Bulls finished third after the regular season, only to lose to the New South Wales Waratahs 23–13 in the semi-final.

In 2006 they reached the semi-final again but lost to the Crusaders 35–15. It wasn't until 2007 when the Bulls made it to the final, defeating South African rivals the Sharks 20–19 in Durban. (A lucky try that only Habana could have scored)

Ja he was terrible, he got the Bools to 2 semis and a title and the team he built then won two more titles. Kept the Boks number 2 in the World...we are now number 6, but if we lose to Wales we'll likely be number 7.

Your not making an objective apple with apples comparison. Meyer was fired twice in both seasons he was a coach- for the 2 worst results by the Bulls ever in Super Rugby. John Mitchell only has one season, so the best comparison is Meyers first, and even second years where he was fired after each season.
John Mitchell has a decent squad, but they are nothing like having Fourie Dupreez, Habana, Matfield, Bakkies, Roussouw.
Mitchell has proven he was the architect of the Lions. He turned some brainless unfit donkeys at the Bulls into a unit that can think, pass and catch- into a team that will get better when more players are bought in the offseason.  The fans are back which is the best starting point, now he needs to recruit more players in certain positions such as loose forwards and wings. The wings are average at best- and they will not get much better.
Mitchell has brought fans to Loftus again making them more profitable with an enjoyable attacking brand of rugby. Players will want to play under this expert, instead of a plodder like Robbie Fleck or Alister Coetzee.  If the Stormers and Bulls offered the same salary, most players would want to develop under and expert like Mitchell.

Well go through Mitchell's record.....lots of early failure. And he couldn't take a talented AB team past the semis in RWC03...lost by 12 points, even though he had the better team. HM made it close with a team well past it's peak. Here's what he acheived for the US Eagles: 'Mitchell left the United States with a 42% win rate, eight wins from nineteen matches. He oversaw the Eagles win in the Americas Rugby Championship. But he also oversaw the U.S. loss to lowly-ranked Brazil, and the U.S. dropped in the World Rugby Rankings on his watch from 16th to 17th.' As for the Lions they finished 14 of 15 and then 15 of 15 under Mitchell. Ackerman the real architect starting at 14 of 15, then 8 of 15....then 2 of 18 and 1 of 18. To give Mitchell all the credit for what Ackerman did is nonsense. Some frigging architect going from second last to last.

Johan Ackerman clearly was the catalyst that changed the Lions dismal record and changed riding hacks into race horses.

Mitchell' s efforts at the Bulls has improved them despite the jaguars hammering of them...cannot understand why all of a sudden the panic mechanic remedies suddenly need to applied.... the Argies simply played an outstanding game....if you watched rugby a long time these things happen.

What irritates the hell of me is Saffas tendancies to panic and call for heads when no credit is given to those who win against them...remember way back in 1974 when Mc Brides Lions slaughtered a good Springbok side in 3 tests and drew on the foul-played match , the last test in PE.

The chopping and changing of players only led to more losses...there was nothing wrong with the initial chosen squad...the reason we lost was simply they were probably the best team ever in rugby's history...I have no doubt they would have beaten the whole world including the AB's.

The Bulls can learn a positive from this.

We have under estimated the Jags...well lets see what the Sharks can do at home first before we continue to pull the Bulls and their coaching to pieces.

Well ... from where I'm sitting ... the Bulls made Meyer. He never made them.

He took the credit for their success though, and rode it all the way to a Bok coaching position a few years later. In truth, any monkey could have achieved the same with that team.

They had the world's best wing in Habana ... the world's best lock pair in Bakkies & Matfield ... the world's best scrummie in Du Preez ... and a highly under rated lock / flank in Danie Roussouw.

Jaco vd Westhuizen was also a quality 15 with an amazing step. Every time he stepped, I fell off the coach.

Guys like Gary Botha brought some physicality to the mix and Morne Steyn was at his best then.

How could you not be successful with that team?

The wheels fell off when Meyer was forced to put something new together. Oodles of talent available to him and yet he tried to relive the Bulls glory days by selecting a spent force of elderly champion rugby players.

Big mistake.

I have to agree with Mozter here. What is it exactly that Mitchell has achieved historically? Forget Meyer for the moment. Too many people fell for the hype and completely ignored his actual history. I said after the Bulls win in the first game of the season that it was too early to say how good they actually were. I predicted then that they would end mid table at best. It seems even that prediction was probably optimistic. The Bulls do look a lot better than they did last year, and a lot of that can be attributed to Mitchell, but they were bloody useless last year, so in reality, they have improved, but they are nowhere near being title contenders . Nothing in his resume indicates that he will make them into anything more than a run of the mill, competitive, yet mid table quality team.

I think that's a bit harsh, BlueBok.

Mitch never claimed that he'd turn them into champions within the first season ... in fact he said it's was something that would take a bit of time.

He has a plan. That's something the former coaches never had.

I think that we've seen a dramatic improvement so far ... thanks to Mitch.

He was the start of the Lions revival. He has breathed life into the Bulls and they'll be a much better team every season he remains.

We're just impatient.

Mozart

So Meyer is still your hero after the disastrous 2014 EOYT and  thr\e atrocious 2015 record up to the Japan disaster?   What a fool.

Fact is that Mitchell made mistakes in team selection - like playing Pollard at inside center - a move you championed previously - and the defense of the Bulls backline was atrocious.   So blame Mitchell for that is really a joke.

The forwards were leaderless without De Jager - Strauss did nothing to cover that deficiency

Hey CC, I hope I'm wrong and that you are right. After all, the Bulls are my team, but every coach in history...ever, has promised to improve things at a team they join, and that they need some time to make it happen . From that point of view, Mitchell is no different. I'll happily admit I was wrong should the Bulls be championship contenders next year, I really will. All I am saying, and I think Mozter as well, is that there is nothing in Mitchell's history that would indicate he has the ability to take a team from mediocrity and turn them into championship contenders.

Thats right CC...coaching a side that's down in the dolrums and to improve them takes time, often more time than is allocated by an unrealistic expectations of an impatient public.

Every good plan to achieve an objective can only be done in stages.

Johan Ackerman took quite some time before his plan started taking root.

Mitch too has improved the Bulls play substantially...the big defeat by the Jags in BA is no surprise however...they are by and large almost an international side and a good one at that playing in their own backyard with crowd support and a fair ref, even though he is Argentinian.

Hence to panic is totally uncalled for.

HM was a conservative coach but not good enough...he like PDV inherited players that were battle wise stalwards but his failing was he only relied on their experience and reputation and they were burning out fast with very little developement in new stock and could not be clever enough (ie like Eddie Jones) to redesign it and put it together.

Conservative rugby is dying, at first very slowly and now it's reached it's shadow-line...a new rugby age is about to bloom...having watched the Sunwolves again it's quite clear why they are improving. Their line speed and handling skills are superb and their tactical play is clever and creative. They avoided as much as possible to take the Stormers on with forwards strength and used their backline skills to it's fullest, completely out manouvering the Stormers and yes it does work and don't be surprised in the future when Japanese rugby has found it's mojo and starts throwing more surprises.

Rugby is long over due to be changed...NZ has set the pace and standards prior to any other nation and most countries use them as role models.

The Irish play conservative rugby....it seems to be working pretty well for them. Nobody is saying Mitchell is not competent. But assuming Mitchell has special knowledge and techniques that SouthAfrican coaches don't have...is BS. Giving Mitchell more credit for the Lions than Ackerman ...is incredible BS. Thinking NZ rugby wouldn't try to claim back a potential winning coach.....is naive BS Assuming everything we did to succeed in the past is no longer relevant is dangerous BS.

Mozart is BS sane as the tripe he comes up now.   SA coaches do not make the grade  - least of all Meyer, Coetzee amd Fleck.    Who trained Ac kerman as a coach?  Michell/   Mitchell has been settled in SA for many years and he has business interests here as well - nobody said anything about any NZ coaching job for him - where did you dream up that one.

What about the past - it went out of the door years ago when the past was unsuccessful against Japan.   Nobody wants to throw out everything from the past - they want to see that comprehensive rugby replace 10 Man rugby - to which you are addicted.
