Bools shock 5

So there you have it the Bools under Mitchell end up 12th in the log despite claims that they wouldn't....and in spite of getting an early 12point lead, they were nowhere in the game against the Lions. Van Staden is certainly a good fetcher, and there is some routine offloading......but most of what the Bools bring is a rush defence and huge energy. Unfortunately the huge energy also translates into lots of mistakes and penalties, and that doesn't even count the penalties for offside missed by the officials. Mitchell has no more to offer than any competent coach. That much is certain.

Problem is that Mitchell gets blamed by fools for wat went wrong in games.   Stupid decisions bythe captain destroyd the chance of the Bulls wining the game.   Start finking about what actually went wrong and then come back with somet ing concrete - not that you actually capable of doing that;      

Ah well, like most things Tokkie , that also imploded. The Bools end bottom of the South African log. There is so much inherent spirit in Bok rugby, a call to arms usually gets a response....sustaining it requires a shrewd coach....which Mitchell's record says he isn't. It appears Gelant might be more suited to 12, where his desire to rove and lack of real pace is somewhat disguised. Libbok is quite a phenom....Willemse has company. The kid made all his tackles and was searingly quick on attack. The 4 turnovers is where the work must be done. Remember the calls for Ulengo? Dyantyi is a way better option. Combrink did well for his second try, but he is not fast enough for test wing. And Mostert turned in another massive effort....a smart player. Kriel is looking more assertive. Will it survive the RC? I have my doubts. Jantjies did some good tactical kicking towards the death, but his 3 missed tackles in 5 attempts and 4 turnovers are a big price to pay for the few deceptions that work.

Not the best season for the bools, had expected so much of them. They have all the right players bit all season they have showed poor tactics. Their over eagerness to run everything has cost them a lot games this season. They need to start taking the 3 pointers and keep the clock ticking. Stop running from your own goal line. Let hope Mitchell wise up and use the Currie cup to start working on some mauling and game tactics. For me the only players in this team that put there hand up for Nokia selection were Pollard and Kriel. Jantjies and Am have gone off the boil and Am defensive frailties and lack of organisation was evident yet again against the jaguars. Jantjies was really poor again, how do you do a cross kick backwards? Gelant had good grubber and a tricky stepper but agree on his lack of pace. Libbok is someone to keep an eye on bug I won't push him just yet. Need at 2 or 3 seasons before even considering him as a possible bok. Besides, we have Pollard, Willemse and Du Preez

I have thought for some time that Gelant would be a better centre than an outside back. He is reasonably fast, but probably not enough so for test rugby- as an outside back. He is a good playmaker and is unpredictable ball in hand because he offers lots of options.
For some reason, the rolling maul has been useless for all SA SuperRugby teams, although the Boks were pretty effective with it against the English.

Not sure if Gelant has reached his ceiling. His distribution is poor for a center. Struggled to find his wingers with some wayward passes. Perhaps Willemse would serve us better as 15/10. Almost the same what the all Blacks have done with Mackenzie. If you read about how they are mapping out his development. Their plan is to turn him into a 10, but they want to ease him in and allow him to express himself. Imagine willemse coming on for the BOKS in 60th minute and bring his pace and eye for the gap that can find his wingers with accurate passing. That is also why I rate Willie as our starting 15. The guy us sublime passing skills.

Given they are last in the South African group rankings they may not rise HasBeen, but it's a safe bet they won't fall...hahaha. Imagine that, rather than trusting your own you picked one from the land of bent refs!
