I was not always a great fan of Nass Botha - but I must admit he siad something - perhaps quoting from Clevrmike - something of the utmost importance.   He said that all players have a chance during Supwe 15 this year to prove that they are really candidates  for selection to the Springbok team this year/.

He added to that that performance must not be evaluated in respect of one or two games - but must be based on continuatios high level performance on a regular basis - as he puts it "week after week"  - in ffect in every game a player plays in.

This is a real lesson for the arm-chair critics on this Board really punted different players based on real rubbish like form is temporary, class is permanent when used to justify six months of under-performance or on norms such as experience and afe and size of players.

There are literally at leat thiry cases of support for selection of players that has really showed nothing and wa in some cases desperately poor and then did something like scoring a try - and suddenly bob's your uncle and he must be in the Springbok squad.

Mozart - please no more De Jonghs and no more punting of players because they were Springboks of the past and that is a guarantee that they will succeed in future.

Saffex - no more Engelbrechts or Taute at center based on some dreams of how great they were - when in fact they should nothing and in Engelbrecht's case failed in most matches towards the end of the season.

       ALL PLAYERS - OLD AND YOUNG - HAVE TO PROOF THAT THEY DESERVE SELECTION BASED ON ACTUAL SUSTAINED HIGH LEVEL PERFORMANCE IN EACH GAME THEY PLAY IN.  NOTHING ELSE IS ACCEPTABLE.

@mikey,
"ALL PLAYERS - OLD AND YOUNG - HAVE TO PROOF THAT THEY DESERVE SELECTION BASED ON ACTUAL SUSTAINED HIGH LEVEL PERFORMANCE IN EACH GAME THEY PLAY IN.  NOTHING ELSE IS ACCEPTABLE."

this dosent just apply to the saffa players, this should be a worldwide standard.
so im glad we both agree that if McCaw continues to perform and more importantly outperform his oppoisites both in NZ, SA and everywhere else, he will be defending the All Blacks RWC in 2015, :o)

BTW, very smart comments from mr 10 man rugby himself naas boot-ha, lolz, :oP

Sasue

Read my first sentence and think what it meant.   Maybe I know that Nass was  the first exponent of  Boots above All  which killed backline play in SA,

Lets discuss McCaw after his sabbatical - that means after his first ffew games against the French.  Mind you it would be a good thing for any opposing team to have McCaw around.  By 2015 he would have lost 60% of his performance capacity.

I love to see rugby geriatrics in the teams of other countries    LOL

@mikey,

McCaw lose 60% of his performance???? o_O

phew, it hought we were going to be challenged in 2015, but if McCaw is only going to lose 60% of his rugby prowess, that makes him 40% better then who evers No2 at the time, LMAO, :oP

i got that feeling from ur post in reagrds to naas, thats why i said smart comments from mr 10 man rugby.
i remember naas botha being a guest speaker somewhere and he said that h thought penalties and  drop goals should be worth 4 pts. i remember thinking i would be devestated if any of my All Black heros throughout my lifetime ever had that mentality, its why for a long long time i always get the Springboks and bafan bafana mixed up, cos both kick the ball equally as much as the other, :oP

The briliance is blinding - He (Naas) said that all players have a chance during Super 15 this year to prove that they are really candidates for selection to the Springbok team this year.

Of course all players have  a chance unless selection is biased but that was not a point being made here. It was just another platitude uttered by Naas who quite often deals in them. Hence my preference for the thinking man Mallet.

Mcaaw is most welcome to rejoin the abs and we hope very much he does so saSUE. Very overhyped player now making waves with his new missus in the UK. Bwahahahahaha.

What is funny is there are thsoe calling schalk too old at 29 but mcaaaw at 31 canmake thenext wc.

A simple fact t oconsider is the readiness of youth. Just be cause they are good enough doesnt mean they are physically ready. Some young guns are and some need time to physically harden up. All th isrequires judgement. Maybe jan is one like Etzebeth and is ready. Maybe Goosen needs a few extra years to be ready etc etc.

In respect of Jean there was no need at all to punt him on passed performances as he was one of our best backs in 2012. Here it was simply a case of ignoring age and picking the best.  snapster and Mike would have dumped him because of his age? Snapster definitely would have.   For him its the young guns every time. A good coach blends the two and gets his timing right.
