I know this is not a rugby issue - but I want to hear what members think of the appointment of Johnson - by all accounts not an easy baby.
The fact is that Boris Johnson has a polyglot ancestry.  Born in the USA - he has amongst others Turkish and Jewish ancestry - and he has what most people don't realize a huge following in the electorate.   That was the main reason for him being invited to be in May's first cabinet.   However, I think he is not a real diplomat - and he will be blunt when it comes to defense of the UK.   May is clever - she cannot select Cabinet members without regard to the outcome of the recent Brexit referendum -  and Johnson is the chief beneficiary from that perspective.

You have to wait for the entire reshuffle to be finished to comment on it because you have to know what the bigger picture is. Jeremy Hunt has just been sacked as well.
George Osborne's k@k, for instance, was booked the moment when it became clear that May was the front runner, let alone being confirmed as the only candidate left.

Anybody who can think of Farage as great living Englishman, let alone the greatest, is as far removed from reality as the east is removed from the west.

 @mike,

"I know this is not a rugby issue"

If you know it, why are you posting it here?
is there something that makes you think that the arrangement to post the non-rugby topics down there, aplies for everybody except you?

Cerudunce windpomp you are just described yourself so neatly. Far removed from reality.
Yes it was the great man Farage who  brought about the UK referendum. The globalists huffed and puffed threatened and lied but the people gave them the big finger. They are doing the same in the USA where Trump is going to win easily.
You see windpomp the British people were becoming increasing aware their country was being overrun. London is now Londonstani and folk knew it had to stop. Expect British attitudes to migrants to harden further and especially to muslims.
Be assured there will be other countries, including Le Pen's France that will also be leaving. All thanks to Farage's battle of two decades against the globalist elite in Brussels. What a magnificent effort Nigel. What a pity you are not PM.
Nigel, I hear will be speaking at the Republican Convention about lessons re BREXIT. Should be good.
The end is in sight for the corrupt Clintons and the traitorous muslim Hussein Obummer. I expect them to all go to jail for a long time. Add in lying Lynch as well etc. It's all coming out and can only end in prison terms as we have seen with just the email scandal.
Unfortunately we still have some very supine duped gullible types like ou cerudunce windpomp who so often doesn't see the wood from the trees.

@Beeno. You should be careful with with whatever you are drinking. Farage was never in any position to bring about any referendum of any kind. He is just another blithering idiot who has, once again, resigned as the leader of his party. That is now the second time in less than a year. One has to wonder if it's going to stick this time around.
The crap about Farage bringing about the referendum has rendered the rest of your post BS and not worth the read.

Ceradyne, Farage is a controversial person in British politics, but I am 100% convinced that he won Brexit for the leave campaign. Cameron was aware of the danger Farage had prior to the last general election and that is why he promised a Brexit referendum to the electorate. Despite a Tory win, Farage manage to get nearly 4 million votes, but the first past the post system penalized him heavily regarding the number of seats.
Fast forward to the Brexit referendum and Farage ran his campaign focused on regaining control of the UK borders first on the agenda followed by Trade and NHS affairs somewhat on the back burner. Dear old Boris et al were fighting solely on economic issues, but when the polls less than 2 weeks before the referendum indicated a Stay victory, they dumped their strategy and accepted Farage's strategy lock, stock and barrel. Only a few days before the referendum the outcome was still in the balance, but then Farage unleased UKIP's people army to do the much needed groundwork and the rest is history.
Farage is doing the right thing by staying on as MEP. He can now observe in detail what happens during the Brexit negotiations and comment on the proceedings.

OU MAAAIKIE IT APPEARS YOU NEED the PERMISSION OF AB ASS TO START A THREAD LIKE THIS. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA TALK ABOUT BEING DELUSIONAL. REMEMBER TO APOLOGISE FOR YOU ERROR. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Blikkies I have to say it gladdened my heart to read a post laced with sound reasoning rather than ou cerudunce windpomp ramblings which so evidently lack all common sense and logic.
Nigel Farage is held in huge esteem by many in the UK. If Nigel were still leader and there were elections today they would possibly out poll Labour. It is no exaggeration at all to call him the greatest living englishman as he quite possibly saved his country from an nihilation.
He has fought the good fight against huge odds and has beaten Junker and the other despicable globalists.

@Blikkies. Yes, Farage is controversial but he surely did not "win" the leave campaign. The leave campaign gained momentum the day that Boris Johnson and Iain Duncan Smith threw their way behind the leave campaign. Fact is that the UK and the EU have been at logger heads for decades. Remember Margaret Thatcher's resistance against the powers of the EU Parliament and her resistance against joining the Eurozone and the single currency?
https://youtu.be/tVt_1ByddUQ

She also warned, in the same speech, that the EURO was going to be the downfall of the democracy in Europe. And that was in 1990.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TPpuIslzG4

She was actually right because the EU Parliament is, in effect, not democratically elected after all. It is rather a potpourri of numerous voting systems in various different countries who elect representatives and those representatives, in turn, decide on the different office bearers in the EU Parliament.
To get all of this back to Farage. He is,, IMO, an opportunist, who has had all kind of outrages ideas with a hell of a lot of followers who are disgruntled with the govt.
The referendum was triggered because the British people have been pushing for an exit from the EU for ages for numerous reasons and David Cameron has been promising a referendum since he came into power. He actually kept on warning the EU that the Brits are "gatvol" and he also warned them that the last set of concessions be enough to satisfy them but he sincerely thought that it would prove to be enough to keep them in. As I said, the indications were that the remain vote would eventually win until Boris Johnson sided with the leave side. That was when the leave campus started gaining momentum and Boris Johnson, more than anybody else became the face of the leave campaign.
Farage is controversial but he has never been a serious contender for anything. What is more worrying at the moment, IMO, is the fact that Labour seem to be self-destructing and they are the official opposition. Many of Labour are punting the fact that Theresa May is a non-elected PM and despite the fact that they keep on punting the point they are secretly very relieved that she hasn't decided to call a snap election because they would have been severely punished right now. I cannot recall David Cameron's exact words in his last PWQs on Wednesday but it was something along the lines of "We had a resignation, nomination and a coronation, and they haven't even decided on the rules yet". You can safely say the same about Farage and his crowd They are more or less in the same position. The only difference is that Farage has a lso resigned whereas Labour are desperately trying to get  rid of their clown.

Are the French next to go out of the EU?   I think the situation in France is getting desperate as well.   The reasons are the same - many people just don't trust Governments anymore and they have lost faith in the establishment.   And the terrorism issue is costing support to go increasingly to Le Penn.   The French election next year will be a straight fight between Sarkozy and Le Penn - with the Socialists on the skids.   How long will Merkel last in Germany.   The World is changing for the worst and Putin must be laughing all the way to the Bank - should the empty-headed Trumpe t win the US presidential election.

Politics in SA is a mess as well.   Our countrywide municipal election is held countrywide on 3 August and the racism issue is used by the ANC to try and keep their support.   .

In the major cities the ANC had 59% support in Johannesburg, 56% support in Pretoria and 52% support in Port Elizabeth in the previous elections in the three cities.   Opinion polls indicates that they are down to 32% in Johannesburg,  26% in Pretoria and 27% in Port Elizabeth .   If that materialize the ANC will be in trouble in the major cities.   They will still win the elections countrywide because of the rural support they get – but many people lost interest and said they will not vote at all.

It would be interesting to see what happens.   The city dwellers  seem to have the same political disease noticed in other voters worldwide – losing interest and becoming anti-establishment.   The same thing happened in Zimbabwe – which over the last two weeks has become problematic  and unstable.

Farage won all his debates and strategically set the agenda. What ou ceeruDUNCE windpomp misses is that without farage there would not have even been a Referendum.
Despite globalist media attempts to slur him, the widespread media coverage Farage got showed him simply to be a clear thingking British patriot with sound policies. A really nice guy who spoke the truth to power.Unfortunately the globalist media have a field day with weak minded dupes like the said ceruDUNCE windpomp!Wouldn't it be nice if the brain deads like ou warped DUD would realise that they have the freedom not to participate.  All he and ou ab ASS want to do is shut down free speech. Its their fascist inclinations rearing their head! Hhahahahahahaha how a little debate reveals the inner workings! Stop saying that they bleat because we don't agree they wail!
