If Twitter rumours are to be believed then ex-Sharks player Brad MacLeod-Henderson will be the Sharks coach for the 2013 Currie Cup campaign, so good luck to Brad who I always admired as an  unsung and very underrated Sharks player back in the day. By all accounts he's earned his spurs as senior coach of Hilton College where he was an ex-pupil.

What worries me is that John Smit - who has already made several high-profile media cock-ups - chooses to divulge this information on a social media network rather than through the regular press channels.

I was one of John Smit's biggest fans long before he became the Sharks captain, let alone Springbok captain and more recently Sharks CEO, but the more this guys is exposed to the limelight the more he seems to screw up. Why didn't he hold a normal press conference to announce MacLeod-Henderson's appointment rather tham a Tweet? This all hot on the heels of the Sharks Director of Coaching fiasco - where Smit offered the job to Nick Mallett, blatantly lied about the offer and then gave the job to Brendan Venter - is cause for concern for any genuine Sharks supporter.

Anyway, good luck to BMcH and come on Sharks!

What role is Venter playing in all this. He is director of rugby or something to that effect. Will he be coaching at all?

I honestly have no idea, Dave.

I don't know why the Sharks need a Director of Rugby, a Director of Coaching, a Super 15 coach and a Currie Cup coach . . . not to mention all the assistants. Sounds like they're creating enough management layers so that no-one is accountable if the Sharks perform poorly.

rooitwit lardy has been problematic for some years now. I wont recap all that as its well known.

However one wonders if Brad will be any better ythan Plumtree. He is taking a club level coach and hoping he will be better. That is quite a gamble as no one can know.

The Sharks coaching job is a plum position (not anymore for one Plum though) and he could have recruited proven top class coaches. Time will tell re the wisdom of this appointment- its a gamble.

Some of those posts you mention are there to work in the region as a whole not just the Sharks themselves.

Rooinek, the Sharks website today released all the info regarding the Sharks coaching set up for the Currie Cup. According to them Venter will oversea the coaching of the team with Brad as forwards coach and Sean Everitt the backline coach.

Despite speculation in the press an other social media circles, it would seem that Venter will be very hands on. To quote the Sharks, he will "attend every practice and every match".

Forwards coach? So he isn't the coach, the Sharks don't have too many coaching layers, Smit never said he was the coach on Twitter.....the post which started this is all lies?

Really Moz? You're going to be as pathetic to take advantage of a honest mistake and try and make the person come across a liar for some sort of gain? To think your an old man would not come into my wildest dreams if it wasn't mentioned so often.

Moz, what can you expect from the initial poster. He knows nothing about rugby. He should just stick to yapping at our heals and spoiling posts. All the swine is good for.

If rumours are to believed, Rooi would be in prison for kiddy fiddling.

Rumour has it, this is his mode of transport.

An honest mistake? Reporting unsubstantiated (and wrong) Twitter fluff as fact.....attacking a Bok captain on the basis of that? This from a jerk who goes after posters he doesn't like for spelling mistakes....and I'm supposed to cut him some slack when he makes a fool of himself? I think not.

Judging from the Tweet it was a safe assumption to think Macleod was the Coach as it didn't state what Role he was given for the Sharks, so yes an honest mistake.

It didn't state what role he was going to take.....but it's an honest mistake to assume it was going to be the Sharks coach? And on the basis of that unsubstantiated interpretation, it's then okay to claim Smit is clueless, there are too many coaches and Smit was responsible for the Mallett fiasco?  Well suit yourself.

With Venter doing the coaching beware the Sharks next year. The man is a genuine rugby brain

Perhaps rooitwit will start suporting his team if they do better?

John Smit certainly has cut a lot of "dead" wood away. Hope there's still a little bit of the bush left after he's done.

I've been cheering for them as my SA team this season ... HOWEVER .... my focus is now on next weeks Lions / Kings match in PE.

Goooooooooooo LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would think his cutting has had to have been harsh, the whole tree needed a good clean out. sometimes i think SARU needs a shake up much like this. Get rid of the monkeys.

Even though I tend to agree with you, Buzz ... I still feel for Plum. He did all he could with what was available to him this season and didn't deserve to be treated as he was.

Smit has never been a favourite of mine so it's real easy for me to criticize that fat arse!!.

Regards to Woody!!

I think the issue for Plum was how many opportunities he had for Silverware and he just couldnt get the Sharks over the line and i think he often enough didnt show enough man management skills to warrant more pats on the back. If he wasnt supported before then the blame should have been put on his Heirachy. John is new and i suppose wants to create his team around him as opposed tosettling in and finding a groove with Plum and his crew.

Plum may be a good guy but he didnt have the best team around him, maybe a bit of a meglamaniac character.

Nice try RooiAAS, great humour through clenched teeth. But I'm afraid, old toppie, the egg is dripping down your red neck as you speak. Bwaaaaahahahahahaaaaaaaa...."if". "If" is the foundation for your massive edifice. Which then comes a tumbling down, as "if" goes away.
