Are we honestly surprised at all? We went to sleep in the second half. But can we really be upset about it? This is our first real test in almost 2 years! We’re we match ready? No! I’m happy we only lost by 2 points to be honest. I’d have taken that before the game. Players assessments: Kolisi: was he even on the field? Kwagga: Big heart but not up to it. He’s a super sub at best. Bring in Jasper Wiese and let’s add some fucked up, brutal, Dutchman style grunt for the second test. Let him eat Curry and break Lawes. I was happy with Damian Willemse when he came on. Hope Willie is ok though. Why did waterboy and his understudy change the dominant front row at half time?? Seemed pointless. Turning point was that confusion with Kwagga and Willie with that kick through. Kwagga was eaten alive and from there, the match was lost for us. Momentum changed.

How could you tell? He was wearing his mask for the full 80 minutes while sitting behind a table.

Our loosies as a whole let us down.

Kolisi was hardly in the game, Handsome was dominated and eaten until he left the field and poor PSdT wasn't at his usual best either.

Bring on Jasper, Chippo!

The Boks didn't fall asleep, they were simply beaten. The Lions got the upper hand in the set pieces, dominanted us in the air (negating our only weapon), and won the territorial battle. Be honest with yourselves, they worked hard and built a comeback to deservedly win the first test. It's that simple.

I totally agree.

The world champions were beaten by a better side.

South Africa is very much struggling with Covid and I think it has taken its toll on the boks.

We missed Duane tonight and we simply don't have a replacement for him.
  1. His leadership, actually the real captain as he does all the talking where Kolisi just watches
  2. Kick takes, kwagga got away in the first half but is too small and weak to man up. Duane is the last guy you want the ball to be run backed. Either Wiese or the twins would have done far better
  3. Bench, no one had an impact or could change the game. If we had Marcel Coetzee who could cover all the back row positions, has 30 caps. Johan Goosen that can change the game from 10 or 15. We missed RG and we missed Koch, Louw or Thomas the tank

The only players who would realistically have made a difference is RG and Thor. Coetzee doesn't have what it takes. Failed under Meyer and Josè. Goosen would have been a sacrificial lamb out there. The Boks were such a shambles I wouldn't even say Esterhuizen would have changed the result. Basically, Josè and Crutch hoped individuals would do stuff and that'd be enough to beat a world class defence. Arrogance or ignorance, you decide. Or both.

Too many If's (we had Vermeulen) ot buts. We lost to a better side finished and klaar. More is nog 'n dag.

Le's learn from the past and move on. Losses and wins are all there from those you learn without looking back.

We have to get Wiese in to the starting lineup. He could be the difference. I’m telling you. I like ‘Handsome Smith’ as flashdakota called him, but he is too small to start a test match against the Lions.

Kwagga doesn't deserve to be dropped. I'm ashamed to be a Bok supporter with how badly the mainstream plastics treat our players. To every myth there is a scapegoat. Kwagga was by far the best loose forward.

You're alright Flash, not singling you out specifically. I agree 8 isn't his best position, but he has played well. Angers me that he gets flack, but Steph comes away a hero for being garbage!

Chip and Flash what fucking game were you watching? Kolisi had a good game Made 11 tackles and gained more metres per run than any forward on the field, beating a defender in the process Easily our best loosie in that game Also I suspect that given we all know the bench frontrow was our best frontrow, the assumption would have been that we get them on early to inflict dominance over the Lions Unfortunately that never materialised. Malherbe the usual rock in the scrums is clearly not match fit and it showed

Saf Regarding the front row. I agree with the bench being stronger. But on the day, I feel that management may have brought them on too soon. We had good rhythm going in to the break. I felt that we lost some of that rhythm with the sudden front row change. If they weren’t coping, then sure. Make all changes at half time. But maybe a better idea would be to bleed them in over the second half. We definitely lost something when they came on like that.

If Rassie knew his best frontrow was on the bench and the starting 3 had done so well, my guess is he thought the bench 3 would be defining and take the game away from the Lions None of us expected the opposite. Was disappointing to watch. I licked my lips with glee when I saw the bench 3 on after the break despite the starting 3 doing so well

Vermeulen and Coetzee are needed in a hurry and that's not making excuses its a fact that they are head and shoulders above the present crop of losers.

But injuries have prevented their selection I believe so we will just have to stay with the present crop of losers.

Coetzee is slow, ponderous unskilled. He has never ever had an adequate test, and he's had numerous chances. Most recent being 2019. That's 30 tests. At this point he is at the end of his career.
