Johan Ackermann is clear: the Springbok training camp chatter is sidelined as his Bulls team zeroes in on their season-defining clash. With the URC final against Leinster on the horizon at Croke Park, the Bulls' coach emphasizes that their collective gaze is firmly set on hoisting the trophy back in Pretoria.

"I’ll be surprised if our players think about that,"

Ackermann stated in a recent press briefing. "The conversations I’ve had, the smiles I see, and the energy I feel from the players, everything is building up to the final. They have only one thing on their minds, and that’s clinching the final."

Ackermann dismissed any notion that his players might feel they are missing out on playing for the national team, given the upcoming Springbok selections by Rassie Erasmus.

"I don’t think there’s any player who feels they’re missing an opportunity to play for the Boks,"

he asserted.

Erasmus himself has hinted that the Bulls' success could be a boon for the national team. Meanwhile, Ackermann warned against overconfidence, drawing on his own experiences: "As a player who has played in semi-finals and finals of Super Rugby, one thing I can testify to is that when you think you’re strong, you start to become arrogant and that’s dangerous ground."

The Bulls approach the final with a string of playoff victories under their belt, yet Ackermann is cautious, stressing the importance of not assuming any superiority over a Leinster team that has been formidable throughout the season. "My expectation is that we will not think we have any ascendancy and rather go and earn what we want to get," he concluded.

The stage is set for a titanic showdown at Croke Park, where discipline and focus will determine whether the trophy returns to Pretoria or stays in Dublin.
