Butch@10, with Lambie@12

 this was an interesting combination today.

 

Personally I think Butch put in a better flyhalf performance today than Lambie the whole season.

 

He did get sent off which perhaps gifted the Bulls the game, with his usual high tackle or shoulder charge stupidity.

However his allround game is much better than Lambie.

 

What was surprising is that I thought Lambie put in his best performance of the season.

If Butch is available next season I would stick with him at 10.

Lambie either at 15 or 12 is better than he is at 10.

I think he should give up at 10 and he is largely to blame for the poor performance of the Sharks this year.

 

Sharkbok I do not think the problem entirely was with Lambie at 10 - even when he tried to play more attacking rugby - he was jeopardised by having Steyn at 12 and afterwards Bosman. While Bosman was vastly superiror to Steyn at 12 - the situation throughout the season was really not acceptable. Even though Lambie played a better game yesterday many of the better plays were in fact when he was first receiver of the ball and he and James switched position from time to time. However, Lambie had a serious problem with kicking at goal yesterday - so that in effect had a detrimental effect in the Sharks game. I am also going to make another controversial statement. Morne Steyn was good in goal kicking yesterday - but the rest of his game was putrid and as a result his team suffered badly. He neutralized the functioning of the Bulls backline completely and his strategic kicking was a joke in bad taste. So - we still have a flyhalf problem and will have to wait and see what Meyer does in the forthcoming tests. .
