Bye bye Gary Gold . . .

Gary Gold has stepped down from the Sharks "to pursue another potentially exciting avenue in his rugby career".

Sharks CEO Gary Teichmann also announced that current Currie Cup coach Robert du Preez will take over as the Super Rugby coach for the Sharks' 2017 campaign.

Things are starting to look up! Can't say I'll miss Gary Gold at all but I wish him well.

Gary Gold is utterly useless. I reckon he was sacked- but both the Sharks board and Gold could save face by saying he wants to move closer to his family. Sounds like Jake White leaving to France so he could be closer to his family.

Don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to work out that Gold resigned so they didn't have to fire him.

I have a good feeling about Gary Teichmann's appointment as CEO. Always admired him as a player and a leader. I think we're going to see some big improvements at the Sharks.

 He's leaving as he came ... a useless entity, clueless on the basics of rugby ... much like Moffie.

Yes agree, Gary Teichman with Robert Dupreez should be a good combination.
The whole director of rugby position is gone in favour of head coach.Director of rugby is just a stuffed jacket that speaks in Cliches. 

Wherever Gold goes, poor performances follow. Good riddance! 
Rooi, I also liked Teichman as a player and as a leader, but look how far being a good player and leader got John Smit as CEO. That said, all the best to Teichman, may he prove me completely wrong.    

@Blue- when Teichmann took control he emphasised that he has 20 years of business management experience. This was an acknowledgement that John Smit was a mistake- and getting rid of him was also the way forward.

 There were only two mistakes with John Smit's appointment as CEO. (1) They should  not have offered him the job and (2) he should not have taken it.

 Lets look art the  SA Super Rugby Coaches and we find that -
*   Franco was a huge improvement taking a team of students and others  forward on a massive basis;
*    Ackerman did the same and the fact that in three years he restored the Lions as a Super Rugby franchise, did well in the second year and reached the final in the third;
*    Muller was a massive improvement on Ludeke and the Bulls will keep going forward;
*    Fleck is still not convincing and the Stormers franchise is in dire financial trouble; and
I leave out the disgusting Kings.   The Stormers is soon going to be in the same condition after making a loss of more than R11 million this year and facig a breach of contract claim of R72 million.   So they are going down and the problems faced by Fleck in retaining and recruiting players will get worse,
The appointment of Du Preez is really a massive improvement on the hopeless Gold. 
So things are looking up for the Lions, Cheetahs, Bulls and the Sharks and the situation of the Stormers seems to be near to hopeless.      

 Encouraging news for all Shark supporters.
Always respected Teichmann as a player and captain. A true gentleman he is, both on and off the field.

In our rugby group Gold is referred to as Geld.....fitting I would say.
