Everyone has been waiting for Hanekom to recover from long term and repeated injuries. Today he proved his international pedigree. He build on a strong showing from last week, so it looks like he is only going to get better as he becomes part of the systems.

His work rate is phenomenal, a bit like a younger Schalk Burger.
He may find himself on the bench in many games because of his ability to cover any position the backrow. (May be a bit small for 7).

Deon Fourie is backup for Open side 6, and Hooker 2. He initially replaced Kolisi but moved to 2 when Marx left the pitch. Still one of the best fetchers in the game, so playing in the last quarter with Hanekom and Fourie will make the breakdown very effective. (A bit like when Vermuelen and Marx were in tandem dominating the breakdown)

But are we really going to take a 40 year old to WC2027? At the moment I think Cam gives us more options than Wiese, whose big deal is the carry. But the All Blacks except for one or two occasions today where he got through has shut him down well in the last two tests - he was a virtual non-entity last week. Cam has more arrows in his quiver.

@Pakie Yes, I don't think Rassie would have him in the squad so close out to a world cup if that was not the plan.
If Marx was a 2, Fourie at 6 and Hanekom at 8 the Bok breakdown would be a prenominal breakdown pack.

I agree on Cam though. He may find himself as a starter sooner than later.
