Mr Meyers if you are reading some of the blogs on this Forum and I know you are, here are some of the boys I definitely want in the Boks squad when you make your final selection/cut. Their names are:

Coenie, Adrian Strauss, CJ Stander, Houggard, Josh Strauss, Joe Pietersen.

And if you don't mind, may I add that you make Adrian and Josh part of your leadership group and eventually captains of your Boks Team.

The Blue Print on how they play I will give to you later in our usual Round Table meeting but we will definitely copy part of the Cheetah's running rugby game plan strategy so we may need to involve their coaching staff in our round table meeting later on in the year.

  1. Coenie - tick,
  2. Adrian Strauss - tick,
  3. CJ Stander - tick,
  4. Houggard - tick,
  5. Josh Strauss - big tick,
  6. Joe Pietersen - small tick.

Agree mate.

Just wondering if JP can take the step up.

There is an essential element in our participation on this Board and our interest in the Springboks - we all have our favourites to be considered for selection.   The tendency is to favour players on a fanchise-provincial basis

In general the show of interest is appreciated - but one wonders whether it is based on factual performance by the players themselves.     I have to say that based on performance we must look at both positives and negatives.    Based on performance I belive that only two players mentioned by you deserve consideration.  They are Hougaard and Pietersen.

the rest are not really ripe for selection.    Coenie often struggles in scrummaging and has been penalized often.    he needs to learn the tricks and only experience will take care of that.    Yes a potential future  Springbok - but is he ready?   Adrian Strauss is not the ebst hooker in SA and he cannot be considered at this stage - not even for the bench - so his eselection would indeed be a surprise.

CJ Stander - no way is he even in the running - personally i do not think he would ever be - we have far better candidates for selection than him.    performance being the key n- what has he done to warrant selection?    Josh Strauss - same story.

Josh Strauss' stats for the last game:

5 runs ....13 metres ....1 turnover

8 attempted tackles....2 missed.

From the game before

7 runs....8 metres

8 attempted tackles....2 missed.

Before that

8 runs ....16 metres

9 tackles attempted....2 missed

Against the Bulls he made 11 tackles and gained 33 metres..

But against the Stormers he made all of 2 tackles and gained 13 metres in 10 carries. Worse yet against the Cheetahs he made 3 and missed 4 tackles, while racking up another mediocre 25 metres in 10 carries.

These are pitiful stats. Not only the low yardage per run....but the missed tackles and the low tackle count. Hell Spies who is always the least productive of the Bok loosies makes more tackles than this. Schalk probably 3 times as many.

What do fans see in this chap? My guess is mostly the beard.

sorry boys that you felt compelled to respond and you do make interesting comments but my correspondence was meant for Meyers alone and if I can convince him then my will will be done. I invite you to look outside the box - you are looking for a Goliath, I'm looking for a David!
