making at least one dominant tackle this year? Certainly for the Boks I cannot think of a single tackle that was dominant. And by dominant I mean point blank, no-nonsense, stopping a would-be-threat dead in his tracks.

Nope ... can't recall any.

Are you telling me, Buggered, that he actually featured this year?

I heard something about him making this incredible jink ... but sadly I didn't see it myself.

Here's another mystery. Can anyone ever recall seeing JJ make a low tackle.....ever? The problem being this. At 12 you have the pincer like effect of  the push at 13, to box the outside gap. On the wing you have the touchline as your friend. But 13 is the position where the outside gap can be lethal. If a player is being stretched to the outside, the only tackle that works is around the knees. JJ's software apparently doesn't allow him to do that.

It is when you do not understand that part, when you blame the flyhalf (two positions to the inside) and the no 12 for a missed tackle and a critical try by the opposition.........

Careful now Stupid … your getting all emotional again ...

You’ll end up chasing those fatty globules around too rapidly through your heart and it could cause you harm … heaven forbid that should ever happen.

In other words, Mozart ... if ever we needed a solid defender in the back line, it's at 13. I see your point. Strange how we ended up selecting the worse defender in the entire squad for this critical position.

That's worrying.

Ah so according to the Vlag coaching manual, its not the inside defenders responsibility to tackle than man with ball in hand..........talk about thick as pigshit

Hang on a minute there. You are the one who is forever goibg on about  this that and the other player who is not in line or who wharra wharra wharra. Talk of changing the plot to suit your agenda.............. You cannot get away from the fact that the only one who really had his hands (both hands) on the charging player was in fact your hero Upright Engelbrecht and he stuffed it big time .

No Vlagtwat, I am just educating you in the basics of rugby, assuming you ever played the game, which I suspect you did not given your ignorance.

I'll keep it simple, attackers attack space, when in space.........Barrett attacked space between Morne and JJ........here is where the elementary rule of rugby comes in.......something that has never changed from day one........its the inside defenders responsibility to tackle the man with ball in hand........every coach will instruct accordingly from a young age........its formative stuff.

And dont lie that JJ was the only one to have hands on Barrett, Morne got just as much of a handful and failed in his responsibility of tackling Barrett, leaving it to JJ who had no time to adjust and effect a good tackle.

Attackers attack shoulders, head on OR space. It depends what you want to achieve and who is doing what.

Bullshit, attackers should always look to attack space in space you ignorant fool......unless you can provide me with a level 1 coaching manual that provides otherwise. If you are attacking the outside shoulder, you are aiming for space.......helloooooooooooo!

Let me guess, chapter 2, involves instructing your attacking players to go to ground?

You can try every trick and explanation in the book. If Upright Engelbrecht had both his hands on the guy and he let him slip, that is what he did. He let him slip through because his defence is crap and it cost us 7 points.

No tricks at all, just an observation of the facts, instead of a layman's interpretation of what happened........by layman I mean someone who has no insight into the subtleties of the game......who clearly has not played the game or coached it.

Blaming JJ for the 7 points is not only rubbish it confirms your ignorance. First offender was Jean and his pathetic rush.......if you rush you best make sure you execute the tackle, for by rushing to break the defensive line.

Second and primary offender was Morne, the inside defender, whose responsibility it was to tackle the man with ball in hand, with the outside defender, JJ covering wide.

Third offender was JJ, but his miss was down to a lack of alignment and imbalance caused by having to adjust from initially covering wide after realising Morne had missed his tackle. So at no point was JJ's focus 100% on Barrett as initially it would have been focused on the wider channel. In adjusting from covering wide, JJ in a split second had to try grab Barrett high without being afforded the time to align and effect a low hard tackle.

For those who have played the game, this scenario is one everyone will have faced........if its a one on one tackle, there is no excuse, however, when diversions are created by defensive lines being broken by a player rushing out or an inside defender missing his man, the chances of the next defender being in a position to effect the perfect tackle become slimmer. JJ was never in a position to effect a proper tackle, he was clutching at straws, scrambling to stop Barrett after Jean and Morne had missed their man.

If we were to blame a single defender, it would have to be Morne......but no rugby authority would conclude that after 3 players missed the man, that the fault lay with one........unless that person was stupid or plain prejudicial. I cant stand Morne as player but I am certainly not blaming him alone for that try......I am not that stupid
