I hear that Scotland would need a bonus point over Ireland and would need yo win by 20 points.

Ireland would need a bonus point.

It's unlikely to happen but can't be certain.

Nienaber says he doesn't think there will be some conspiracy to knock Boks out. I agree but again anything is possible.

I hope all my patients are doing well this morning. Together we will make it through the comp oaks, never fear. Just remember to take your meds!

Ha! Well, at least there is more doubt than before. So it keeps us honest. Unde Rassie we never to sure what will happen.

Yes, we won the last world even though we lost to NZ.

You would think we would be more confident this time around. But to be honest, I'm even less confident.

And for ever reason, if Scotland put 20 points past Ireland and win.

Will we get knocked out?

It will be the first time that the boks would get defended for a poor showing at the world cup and where a coach keeps his job., twice.

Let's rewind the clock

2019 - Rassie Win WC, keeps job

2015 - came 3rd, lost job and lost to Japan

2011 - De Villiers, Quarters, lost to Aus, lost job, rightly so.

2007 - Jake wins, lost job.

2003 - De Straule, lost job QTR knock to Eng. Lost job, rightly so

1999 - Mallet came 3rd, lost job year later after criticism of ticket prices

1995 - won Kristy, kept job, but passed away

I think Rassie will be the only coach in History that have managed to fool everyone.

That said, SA has a a history of discarding coaches very quickly

Only scenario is a high scoring say 50-28  to Scotland with Ireland also scoring 4 tries. Thing is if it is an all out attacking game then the scores will be much closer. Cannot see Scotland defending and attacking well.

Getting the bonus point in the Tonga game effectively iced it. If Scotland wins without a 4 try bonus point it would leave them on 14 points. Ireland would be there too if they don’t get a bonus point by losing by 7 points or less.

If that happened Scotland goes through on head to head and the Boks  win the pool and play NZ.

Even if Scotland win with a 4 try bonus point, we still win the pool on head to head

The risk was always we didn’t get the bonus point. So with a red card card Ireland could lose  with more than 7 points….and still get through based on their win over us….Scotland on 15 points going through if they get 4 tries,  even though losing to us.

As things stand if Scotland wins  by more  than 7 and Ireland don’t get a 4 try bonus point, we play New Zealand.

If they win by less than 7 or concede a four try  bonus point, Ireland  and South Africa are 15 and Ireland plays NZ. But if Scotland win with a 4 try bonus point and Ireland get a bonus point…we all end up on 15, and points differentials determine the team that drops out.

That’s a highly unlikely scenario in the absence of an Irish card. If we didn’t get that last bonus point it would be a much more edgy scenario where a bonus point win for Scotland would have eliminated us. As it stands our main interest is whether we play France or the AB which is only  likely if Ireland concede a red card.

Preventing Scotty from getting the BP for losing with 7 or less in our opening match seems vital now.... Ireland will be under immense pressure,  but they're a good side.

Shows how much RWC group stages are unsuspenseful with people fabricating all along stuff to keep themselves interested.

Trad there is a certain truth to that, but this is no different from doing the crossword puzzle every day.

Beenprick,,,,

I think the correct way to ask this is "

" Will the Boks fail to get out of Pool Stages?"

2011 - De Villiers, Quarters, lost to Aus, lost job, rightly so.

This was Erasputin's first bite at the apple. He coached the Boks with Nienaber.
