Can Elton step up?

The Lions have a very defined playing style, which should be effective in playoff rugby. Whiteley is apparently available, Faf has undoubtedly grown with his test exposure, the scrum is functioning well......they are playing at home. But there is one unanswered question, can Jantjies guide the Lions to victory in a close match against a great team.
He certainly didn't do that against Ireland....the second test was saved by Faf, Combrink and Whiteley. They were the players who introduced the iron resolve that turned the tide. 
So here is an opportunity for Elton to finally show his high risk game of last second passes, chip kicks and somewhat creaky goal kicking can stand up under elimination pressure.....against the Crusaders. Unlike the Irish series where he came in as a substitute, where other players were expected to shape the game, where he was interpreting somebody else's strategy......this Lions team is closely associated with Jantjies. In many Lions victories  he was credited with being the architect.

This all means additional pressure.

Will it work out for Elton? I sincerely hope so, he is an entertaining player with certain unique skills. But if I were the Saders coach I would direct some very aggressive defence in Jantjies' direction.....look up the Rassie/Larkham tapes.

 If his ?oosies and voories gives him enough front foot, he'll be fine.

 I hope the first kick is routine....Elton feeds on success, but adversity seems to overwhelm him.

He seems to be a confidence player. If he can get space he will get a few runs or backline moves going. If his space is closed down- he can get erratic. As a home game the Lions are going to be fired up. Mccaw would have been all over him- but we can expect the usual schenagins at the rucks by the Kiwis . 
If the Boks choose Elton- then they need to play a game plan that suits him- unlike the Stormers game plan that consisted of the Nienaberr defence alone
