I think not - he is bad enough already.   His only attribute is his gial  kicking game - but for the rest he has once again proven to all that he is pathetic.   As many points he scored by kicking - he gave by handing points to the opposition.

His line kicking is acceptable - but his strategic kicking too far and easy for the opposition to turn into attack opportunities.

His defence is a joke - he made two tackles and gave away two penalties.   For the rest he hides behind his forwards so that he do not have to be a frontline tackler.    The opposition ran over him a number of times - when he was required to tackle.

Him under a high kkick is a joke in bad taste.   he did the same today as he did last week against the Stormers on two occassions.

His passing game remains the same level of poorness as it was in the rest of Super 15.   Anybody mad enough to receommend him for election to the Springbok team is in urgent need of consultation with a shrink.

Let me explain - Jantjies is not 9 carats - not 18 carats - but 24 carats of pure Sh!t insofar as flyhalf play is concerned.   You may not like it - but if you analyse todays game objecively - you would find out why I said that.   But in the case of Jantjies you are apparently not objective and believe in a mirage.

He even bottled out when he threw that forward pass. He needed to take the big tackle that was coming....but decided to avoid the contact by shovelling the ball to a player two steps ahead of him.

Good on him for trying to keep the ball alive.....if that had been Morne, he probably would have tried to take it up and died with the ball. So you reckon he bottled it - then how do you account for all the occasions he does take it into contact

I saw two instances today where Jantjies had to take the tackles - for the rest he often enough pass the ball in hosp[ital passes to other players to avouid contact.    Hias passing game is not efficient - and lead to nothing happening other than the recpient taking the tackle.   One dimensional if I ever saw that in a flyhalf.   On todays game he was nothing different from the disaster dished out last night by Steyn.   Have to agree with Mozart on this one - the latest version of Earl Rose played today for the Lions.

Must be frustrating loving the game so much but being so ignorant when it comes to what constitutes a gifted player - to compare him with Rose is insulting......as for Moz, well he used to tell us how great Adi Jacobs was or that Meyer Bosman was the real deal, not to mention BJ Botha as a tighthead and Johan Muller as a lock - do you want me to continue? If he had his way BJ would be our current tighthead and de Jongh would be in the mix

I watched the replay of the game - and even formed a more unfavourable insight in the play of Jantjies.   To compare him with Earl Rose - represents an insult of  Rose.   Jantjies is poor in every department of the game - bar his kicking at goal.

Insofar as distributional play is concerned - he never showed anything that could open up players outside of him to effectively launch attacks.    How many tries did your hero score in Super 15 this year?   Even the weakest of flyhalfs have shown something to score tries.    I love rugby as a game - but I also think that to help the opposition by team selection is a no-no.

By he way he gave away 2 tries by  not even trying to affect tackles.   GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!

By the way - did you saw his face when he missed tackles - they shoiwed it last week and again this week - look and you will see that books can be written about it.    He is over-rated and only a certain friend of mine do not want to see it.    If he served the opposition as well as Rose did - will you then be satisfied that your objective has been achieved?   I think on Super 15 level this year - he was completely inadequate - maybe he could play on CC level - everything higher would be beyond him.   if he ever got to wear the Springbok jersey - of one thing you can be assured.  The opposing teams would laulgh their heads off they would jsut laugh at the rank stupidity that would be exposed by hi selection,

Mike you are a typical conservative SA'n who really does not have a clue about what constitues a quality rugby player. Jantjies is a very gifted player, but I dont expect you to pick up on that. Go read Flash's comments on Jantjies he is spot on, you are clueless

Just one more question on Jantjies?   How many tries did he score for the Lions this year?   As far as I know zero.   All the other potential flyhalfs - even the much-maligned Steyn - scored tries in Super 15 - but not Jantjies.

Look - I think our differences about Jantjies are really side issues.   I think he is a poor flyhalf on Super 15 level - you think otherwise.   I look at actual performances - you look at potential.   We will never agree on the issue till doomsday and not arrive at a joint position thereon.   I almost wish Meyer would play him in a close test against one of the stronger teams - because that could settle our argument one way or another.  That unfortunately is unlikely to happen - as Meyer would not take any gambles in such a case.

Flyhalves are not there to score tries, they are there to ignite their backs, something Jantjies does perfectly, with an attacking instinct and vision to implement it. He has silky hands, good eye for a gap, good step and swerve, a very good boot on him. The kid has the complete package and is the closest thing we have to Cooper and Cruden - he plays it like Freddie Michalak does.

The kid stands out in a very weak side, imagine what he would do with Hougaard at 9 and Frans at 12 - it would be poetry in motion. He should join the Sharks

The Sharks would never buy him - too much of a gamble.   Jantjies would end up with the Kings - another worse move than at present playing for the Lions.    Insofar as try scoring is concerned - the Lions back line try scoring record is poor - so Jantjies did not add much to that part of the game.

There is another problem too - and that is people raved about Earl Rose when he started off his provincial career - same as you do now with Jantjies.   Rose did not develop further and became an embarrassment - Jantjies could develop - but he does not have the physique to be a 10 and that could inhibit further development.

No Mike the Lions dont score tries because they are a piss poor side, its that simple. Rose was bloody useless, Jantjies is a class act and the Sharks only have a foreigner as an option at 10, if they had any sense they would buy Jantjies who plays his rugby like Freddie

If they have any sense they won't - otherwise it could end up the same way as was the case with Luke Watson.   Getting rid of him early - because  he is useless would have to be written into any contract.   I think Francois Steyn would object in any event - he would not like to suffer the indignity to play next to Jantjies and receive his hospital passes.

I in essence agree with you about th eweight of players issue.   Why do you want an 84 light weight in a team - when he gets run over by virtually all players?   You object to Jordaan at 95 kilos - but Jantjies at 84 you do not mind.

Frankly - I would rather have Steyn than Jantjies at flyhalf.   At least he can tackle players - while in the case of Jantjies his tackle rate is under 10%.

Saffex pse forward me the link to the Lions game you watched.

The game I saw on TV here in Canada once more proved that Meyer was correct by leaving KAK on the bench.

NO, NO way is your hero a SPRINGBOK. Not even in the top six #10's in RSA at this moment.

Goooooooing down .......

Finish and Klaar.

Really wish he had been given a run in that 3rd England test just so this could be put to rest.

Don't think he has it in him at the Bok level - very unimpressed except for the ocassional brilliance. He had the perfect opportunity against a weak Rebels team to showcase his abilities and earn a good look and it didn't happen

Lunatic

You are 100% correct,.   He was bad against the Rebels - by all accounts a poor team.   Watch out next Saturday against the Bulls - he would be worse, so the answer remains YES.
