The Question is, what should we be paying our players if we want to try and keep our best players around.
Players like Lambie, Serfontein etc should not have gone abroad because SA rugby feel that they don't want to fork out the money.
They should have simply just taken the Super Rugby deal and use that to pay the best players and rely rather on Sponsor and unions to share a part of their ticket revenue rather than using all of that money on themselves.
Just doing a basic calculation based on salary bands of players could be paid.

SARU makes R1 billion a year. I'm not sure if that excludes the televisions rights, but there should be enough money to spread the love and stop syphoning it off to all the off rubbish provinces.
It is reported that each union would receive $270 million over five years.
It would only cost SARU $160 million to to pay players on these bands over the course of the 5 years. leaving them another $110 million in the bank.
SA has a big enough market to and interest to keep the local rugby players playing currie cup.
