Sure he looked fast hauling in Whitehead....another Dave pick who surely challenges Wynand Olivier for lack of pace! But  we don't want a sprinter, we want an eighth man who can mix it up with Reid. Match after match, despite a bulging muscle display rivalling the mighty Bismarck......Spies turns out to be milk toast.

And today Kankowski showed that if we want a lineout option at number 8....he not only can deliver....he can also call the damn thing.  Nearly as fast as Spies and a much better passer and offloader....I would give Kankowski a turn. He showed today he can get physical....enough so that Rugby 365 made him their MOM.

The passive mystery that is Pierre Spies has never recovered his form since his enigmatic departure from  RWC07. Not even the captaincy can get this guy to be a bit passionate. It's time to go.

Whitehead has more than enough pace for a 12 and had a good game......Spies was a wing and his pace has never been in doubt

Saffex

Have to agree here with Mozart on the issue of Spies.   He was "absemt"  from the game for 79 minutes and is indeed not even an acceptable player on Super 15 level.   He did squat yesterday and I gave him 3 out of 10 performance wise.    Kankowski was outstanding yesterday and that cannot be argued away.

If Jordaan was in the position of 13 yesterday, he would have scored the try in the case where Spies hauled Whitehead  in.   Whitehead may be an inside center, never a 13.    His pace is far too slow for a 13.    I would NEVER want to see him again as a 13 and I do not rate him at all as a center on Super 15 level.

Hope Jordaan is back for the next game of the Sharks.

If Duane Vermuelen is still injured for the Championship- The Kankowski must be at 8.

Spoes must go back to the wing. Spoes would be a great wing on attack, although i Doubt his defence would be good.

Sharkbok

His tendency to lose balls in tackle situations will make him as a wing bad news.   No way can he be a wing and as a no 8 he is a joke in bad taste.   I agree with you whole-heartedly about this one.

The best loosie by a mile today was Coetzee - a real star at a very young age.   I think that the make upo of the loose trio should be as follows:-

8    Vermeulen

7   Alberts

6    Coetzee

I think Burger may be out due to injury - sfter nesrly dix months off - he still has not recovered.    There are other players that could come into the picture - but please protect us from the Bulls loosies - they were desperately poor.

Spies is too clumsy to be a wing.....guys like Ioane would leave him for dead.

The most overrated Springbok player ever to play 30+ tests, trains like Tarzan, plays like Jane

Spies does not have the heart of a forward but missed his destiny when moved from the wing.

Even now he could debulk a bit and go back to wing. Could do well there and should be there as I have often lamented. Penny is dropping for some.
