The All Blacks destroyed the Irish in the last World Cup, also in the quarters.
The Irish went into the quarter-final match with a lot of confidence, but the All Blacks played a very expansive brand of rugby that was so high tempo it ran the Irish off their feet. The game as a contest was over very early on.
In the semi-final, the All Blacks went for a bigger pack against England, and it meant the All Blacks were slower to the breakdown which counted against them. The AllBlacks did not back their more skilled and mobile pack to get breakdown dominance instead of ball carrier dominance of the advantage line
This is certainly the best Irish team ever though. The All Blacks are not their usual world dominators, with weakness in the tight 5. The Irish have the edge at the forwards.
But, with Retalick back, and if the All Blacks forward gets 50% off possession, the All Black backs are better than the Irish backline on attack.

Ireland are playing the best rugby I've seen from any team in ten years.
But I can't help but think NZ are gonna frazzle them on the weekend.
It's a lot of pressure. The 1/4s, the win streak...the expectation.

Ireland plays with a lot of confidence and self believe at the moment. They will play thru this curse and most probably win as there Winning Culture and self believe is big…AB are not where they supposed to be, but can still be very dangerous….if by some chance Ire does not pitch, then AB are in with a good chance.

So how do we see it going?
Ireland can both chase and lead a game.
Ireland have better cohesion up front and at the back.
Ireland have better fetchers.
Ireland have better game management.
Ireland have better defence.
Ireland have far, and I mean light years, better coaching.
...but something is telling me they won't get past the ABs.
It makes no sense. I can't see Ireland being rattled but something is telling me they will be. I can't see Ireland bleeding penalties, but something is telling me they will.
And it's not a biased thing. I want Ireland to win.
Maybe that's it. I've adopted them as my second team and now I care too much.
I just keep thing back to those 20 minutes in the RC...if that AB side turns up, nobody can keep up.
But that's it. That's the only logical reason I have for thinking the ABs will win. Those 20 minutes. Which pales in comparison to the evidence supporting an Ireland win.
I need help haha
