So, according to Jake and the bulls, it is possible to bring back high-value players and compete with the European clubs. Apparently, each Franchise has a R65 million rand player budget.

Squads have been trimmed and we no longer see 50 or 60 professional players on a R1 million contract a year.

The real question, can we afford to bring back our players and who should come back.

Players like Faf, Pollard, Kolbe are all getting paid huge sums or are past 29 or 30.

Neither have I been able to figure out how much teams get paid in the URC. The unions are still cash strap except for the bulls and the sharks.

If Willems is on a R5 million contract, it is still high for european money.

There is also the PONI fund that Saru pay towards player wages.

So I wonder who we could bring back and which unions needs it the most

65 millions are supposed to be less than 4 million euros.

SA players are overpaid in order to try and attract local players in SA, getting them to think good money is to be made when playing rugby.

With 4 millions euros, that is what three to four SA players on official payroll, one to two on inofficial payroll.

SA rugby is leeching off the North, which transfers wealth in order to support the disgrace known as SA rugby.

With the SA currency being almost as valuable as Toilet paper any SA playing overseas would be stupid to give up earnings in Euros, Pounds or Dollars to come back "Home" and play for a local team.

Unless of course they went to school in Poffadder.

So the Salary Cap for the English Premiership is around £6.5 million.

Teams get 80 000 player credit if they are an international and correct, two players don't have to go on the books at all.

But SA can only offer £3.25 million.

The top player get between £350k update £600k in the premiership.

We might not be able to £600k but around £250 to £350K should work well

Exchange rate right now is R20 to £ 1

But South Africa is a fantastic place- even more so if you've got a bit of money...and it's home...I think less players would leave...one can live cheap in SA, but it's also an experience to travel and live the rest of the world a bit.
