A little rusty first half, too many handling errors from the canucks but fast and enterteining game

Yes, glad the Canadians decided to play running rugby. Both teams throwing the ball around so the error rate is high.
Canadians were very competitive in the first 1/4 and they showed they have talent. We will see if they can assert themselves in the second half.

Well the crowd loved the game (biggest  Canadian crowd in history to watch a live rugby game).
Really fast paced  game but the Canadians showed they can't play this style without making a lot of errors.
Congrats to Maori ABs & also for the Canadians for giving it their best shot!

We did not have the game on TV in SA - so what was the final score?  

Final score was 40-15 to Maori ABs.
I never get games on TV so have to watch them all through internet streaming. Not the best of viewing but better than nothing.

Thanks for the info.   I forecasted a Maori win by 24 points on Superbru - so do you think I know my rugby?

I created a pool on Superbru called SArugby.com why don't you sign up for it & we can try & get the other posters to do the same?
It is easier than me trying to do it manually on this forum. I have to use an excel spreadsheet & try not to miss the predictions posters make. I don't mind doing it but I will travel soon & this makes it next to impossible.

 Not a bad showing from us. But a LOT of really good international players were not playing for us. Last year, in Wales, with pretty much our best team on the field, we really gave the Maoris a run for their money.

Jebb Sinclair, DTH Van de Merwe, Jamie Cudmore are just three big players we need on our side to make it competitive. I think the big problem yesterday was the size of our forwards, and that hurt our breakdown big time. Sinclair and Cudmore are our two biggest, and best forwards. We missed them.

As for our style of play, I think Crowley has really been a huge influence on this, obviously. We will work hard with our forwards, then try to move it out wide ,avoiding kicking it away. One of the reasons for this is because of our very talented wingers we have. Van de Merwe, Hassler, McKenzie, and The young, but quick Taylor Paris. All these guys have very good speed, and are talented players.

If any of you watch the Pro 12, Jeff hassler(the guy who scored the first try) plays for the Ospreys.

Our Rugby has been improving greatly in the last 4 years. Beating the USA is nothing to be proud of for a Canadian rugby fan. We beat them with regularity. Our forwards are a bit small, but from what I've seen, the development of our backs is nothing we have seen before. The four I mentioned above all play pro in Europe. We have a few more coming up the "pipe" as well that should land pro contracts.

Up and coming fixtures are interesting, Georgia in Tblisi will be a challenge and Scotland a real big one for Canada.

 We should win every single one of our 2013 fall tour games. Georgia will probably be our only challenge. But we handled them very easily last year in Canada without our full team. I'm expecting 3 wins out of 3.

Scotland next year is something rugby Canada has been doing now for the last few years. Setting up "friendlies" sort of speak. This spring it was Ireland, and this fall the Maoris. Rugby Canada is trying very hard to get our players playing more games every year. The IRB has helped out now by including us in the Pacific nations cup. This year(2013) our national team will have played 11 games. That's big for a second tier country. If you include the American Rugby Championships, it's 14.

The more rugby we play, the better.
