Carter calls for fans to move on from booing Cooper

Quade Cooper and Dan Carter faced each other in Christchurch last weekend

Dan Carter has called for the public to end the booing that Quade Cooper gets and says enough is enough and that it is "not a good look".

The Crusaders beat the Reds 38-9 in Christchurch on Saturday but every time Cooper touched the ball he was jeered and booed by the home crowd.

When Cooper took place kicks for penalties at goal the jeering was deafening and Carter says he is no fan of the behaviour.

In an interview with Radio Sport Carter said that "it's time everyone moved on" and added that he didn't particularly like anyone being booed at any stadium.

Crusaders fullback Israel Dagg appealed for New Zealand rugby fans to stop booing Cooper after the Crusaders victory on Saturday.

"Great win by the boys but please peeps give @QuadeCooper a break!! Disappointed by the boos #moveon," Dagg tweeted.

Christchurch is not alone in Super Rugby venues where fans boo oppostion teams and in 2013 there has been an increase of the unsporting behaviour at stadiums.

man i love daniel carter, i have a huge man crush on him which ive been fighting hard to not turn into a fatal attraction level man crush, but are u being serious???

when a rugby fan or any fan for that matter spends thier hard earned money on tickets to watch a game, its their God given right to cheer and boo who ever the fuck they want as long as its tasteful, cursing players or racist and personal insults are not on, same with hurling objects like in every other soccer game, all this is wrong in a  big way. but booing another player, perrrrlease.

a lifetime in the rugby limelight means that carter and dagg dont know what its like to spend money on tickets, so unless theyre prepared to pay for everyones tickets, IMO they need to STFU.

Funny I expected nothing less from the gentleman that Carter is.

Personally I would want Cooper to go down on his knees and humbly beg for forgiveness. The liberties and cheap shot he took on McCaw deserves the full wrath of the public ... and until such an apology is forth coming ... forget it..

But hey that's just me!!!

Carter of course is absolutely right. Its pretty rotten the way nz crowds behave.

But you can see what a genuine role model like Carter is up against when even ou saSUE cant agree that such behaviour is wrong! Nz alas need many, many more role models like Carter but they are a very rare breed!

Dan we are doing our level best to get some kiws here like saSUE right but I cant guarantee success as the ground is hard! But keep going boet never say the battle is in vain. Soldier on.

Cmon ffs its Saders fans. They did same with Spencer and he loved it. Even ran in a 100m try walked to the corner  dot it down then converted it from the touchline to deny the Saders a BP. He followed it up with a big Fuck You

@beeno1 aka storminged,

have u never heard saffas boo anyone in SA during a rugby game??? dumb, blind and also deaf, quite the trifactor u got going there, o_O

at least kiwis dont boo their own like the treatment habana got a few years back and mornes not so recently, that IMO is a million times worse, cos they were both one of ur own.

We dont consistently boo one player whenever he plays saSUE. Possibly we are also more objective re poor performance?

In case you  have any concerns regarding the severe lack of nz role models just remember you can always count on me! I feel I need to stand firm with the isolated Dan and Justin Marshall.

Beat the home team and you silence the crowd. You can hear a pin drop at Loftus if you can do it. Any staduim in the world you can do it

Since Cooper has returned from injury he has not been the same player.

Maybe he will get his form back but he has been average lately.

I agree totally with Dan the Man, the booing of Morne Steyn last year really pissed me off especially seeing as it was by home fans.

@ beeno1 aka storminged,

"We dont consistently boo one player whenever he plays saSUE. Possibly we are also more objective re poor performance?"

really??? i take it u never watched a kings match invovling luke watsoin in SA??? i can remember in different games where commentators even said how there was no need fo that kind of a reaction.

i stlll think that habana and morne getting booed by the saffas in SA while they represnted the Boks was a million times worse, then kiwis booing an aussie, buthey each to their own.

theres plenty of players i dont want to see play for the All Blacks, but i would never boo them they way ur countrymen did to one of their own, that was disgusting.

Lets not forget that the 'booing' of Cooper began before his cheap shots on Richie but because the Kiwi crowds were upset that he left their shores for Oz and see him as a traitor, much like in the Rathbone mould. What makes it even more laughable about the Kiwi crowds is that they are esentially 'booing' one of their own but are too dumb to realise it.

Can someone explain to a Kiwi that most of them are 'Soutpielle'.

I'll keep it simple for all the dumb yarpies that have cages around their fields to keep the SA monkeys out...indicating booing their national team is the least of the players worries.

A place where refs recieve death threats if the home team does'nt win and a place where white flight is in full swing meaning NZ has become a sanctuary for all the chicken shit yarpies to escape to...

Rugby is alot like war but without guns of course and in war if someone defects to the other side then they deserve all that shit that they get especially if you take cheap shots at yr former countrymen...

@Brycy - obviously you lack any level of intellect... but what else to be expected from a kiwi... Why is it then when countelss millions of dumb ass kiwis take flight to Australia to escape their crappy country that they cant choose to give allegiance on the footy field to their new country...??? Typical idiotic kiwi logic. Mate if McCaw was a fair player Id be lying up to praise his ability BUT cause he is a CHEAT and also puts in plenty of CHEATSHOTS (first on QC BTW) then whatever. Anyway I think long term 5/8 for aussie will be toomua next you wankas will be trying to claim him....

@redsman, kiwi's emigrate to OZ because there aren't enough skilled or educated Aussie workers who want to work so Kiwi's are recruited so your lot can sit at home on the bludge. Pretty much like your home grown rugby players. I'm not McCaws biggest fan but jumping on the cheat wagon to suck up to the Saffers is par for you.
