CC Games thus far

 Thomas Du Toit seems to be it come scrum time, just needs to improve his discipline but it isn't a problem I think it was just a one off this match. 
The backline played really well with the exception of SP Marias, Wright looks like a good prospect. The Sharks need to change their looseforwards for next match, they looked unbalanced and Marco Wentzel doesn't look that good either. 
Pat Howard looked really good, Coetzee needs to give the lad a run of games to prove himself. Senatla showed a good workrate, WP just need to play a bit more expansively and teach De Jong to pass. Kolbe was also solid at fullback but I think Beeno is onto something in thinking that he'd make a decent scrum half. 
The only positive for Free State is that we have got JP Du Plessis who looked promising for WP and we'll surely get him to his potential.

 Mike your guppies played against 14 men for almost the entire match. Frot guppies for sure.

All was not wine and roses.  I was particularly interested in what Eyzeveth and Malherbe produced today.  Malherbe came on when Cilliers was carded and in one scrum with WP only having 7 forwards in the scrum he stood up very well and there was a turnover in possession.   In most other scrums he was solid - but waht was clear he still has a very gigh work rate and put in a large number of tackles.  Etzebeth was less active and did not make an impression that he is back to his best just yet.   However, both came through their first match in a long time quite well.
Some of the youngsters that looked good have been Pat Hopward and Stokkies Hanekom of the Lions    Ackerman refused to play Hanekom for quit a long time in the Super 15 series and I am sure hew as wrong in that regard.
The other player that did very well was Paul Jordaan.  He made a huge impression in what is expected from a 12 - whenever necessary he took on the opposition. and made meters of territory gain in the process.  However, what was more impressive was the way he timed his passes and he had to beat 5 defenders to score the try he did.   
I am sure Thomas du Toit is a future Springbok - he had some problems initially with the s;lippery field - but then came right and put in a massive scrumming display.  
Players like JJ Engelbrecht and De Jongh showed nothing of substance and were in fact not adding value to the team.   The Bulls backline was disfunctional and  the players did not huge the width of the ield to make gains 0 everyone tried the same trick - run straight at the first defender - for heavens sake - never pass a ball - killing the rest of the backline in the process.

Steyn was NOT missed - he would have buggered up the whole backline.   Alberts = really very doubtful - his work rate would have been lower than that of Oosthuizen - who to my mind is not a loosie at all.   The idea to play a low work rate lock as a loosie is an abomination.    
The Sharks backline of today will play the fool with the WP backline - it will be criminal to see what Sithole - playing outside of Jordaan - will do to DE Jongh.    

It's amazing to see what the exclusion of Serfontein and Pollard has done to the Bulls backline.
