So far I'm not impressed by Kleyn at all. He and Botha were completely outplayed against the Lions last weekend. Botha looked good on debut against the Kings and I think he is the better prospect, but whether he can hold his own against equal opposition remains to be seen. The WP tight five is their biggest weakness right now, both the Bulls and Lions smashed them.
I like the look of Jaco Kriel, one of the few forwards in this country who runs into the gap between two defenders instead of right at a defender.
PJ Vermeulen at 11 for Griquas is also worth watching.

Dave as I've said before Odendaal is ordinary, have yet to see him produce a bit of skill. Crash ball specialist is all he is.

You are so wrong about this lad looked really good with ball in hand in his first two games has had less opportunities since. Looks strong and hungry for work.
He is a great find.
Janse v/Rensburg has struggled to break through sadly, same can be said of Dries Swanepoel and Pat Howard

Watching the game tonight - the following was the performanceof the players I advisedto watch out for:-
Excellent - Stokkies Hanekom, Armand van der Merwe, Jaco Kriel
Very good - Andre Coetzee, Ronaldo Bothma
Not show much - Rosco Speckman
Injured early - Schalk van der Merwe
Where did this guy Armand van der Merwe popped out from. He was the man of the match last week and came very close again tonight. Is he a future Springbok hooker?

I cannot believe that - as tall as the one is - as short and chubby is the other. Tough as nails is Armand and he can run with the ball as well. I think he is a future star in the making and can see the present aging Bismarck and Strauss being replaced by him and Torsten van Jaarsveld in time to come.
I hear d somewhere that Thomas du Toit and Pieter-Steph du Toit are in fact brothers as well - is that the case as well?

Tomas du Toit went to Dirkie Uys Primary School in Durban. Seconday school was Paarl Boys High
Pieter-Steph went to Riebeek-Kasteel primary. Secondary school was Swartland.

Thomas and Pieter-Steph have no relation but Pieter does have a younger brother who plays lock called Johan. 99% certain Armand and Duhan are brothers.
I think Torsten van Jaarsveld is good but I don't think he'll be able to compete with Marx, Cooper and Armand for the Bok spot.

Well this was, I think, my 4th viewing of the much vaunted Jacques du
Plessis in action. I don't see the hype. Big unit, sure, but he just
seems to lumber around the field doing not much of anything. One good
bash where he took 3 tacklers with him, but for the rest, bog average.

He was actually really good in this years Super 15 competition, been kind of lack lustre in the Currie Cup but I wouldn't disregard him.

I have alqways maintained that Du Plessis should play ay lock and not at loosie - he is a bit too clumsy to be a flank forward. He is much like Willem Alberts - unable to properly protect balls in breakcown situations and in tackle ball recovery.

du Plessis was very very good in the s15 so much so that he made Meyers Bok squad only to be overlooked by our esteemed coach.
Jacques played every s15 game my guess is he is exhausted and has had an injury.
