 the reason why tony is playing 10 is because pollard is injuryed! im glad to see that Du plessis gets a run out and so does paul wilemse after his injury :) 

Ndungane at 15 for the Sharks is stupid, just like playing Ludik at 13 is. Ludik should have been at 15, with Tyler Fisher at 13. Peet Marais on the bench when he is better than both starting locks who are average is another stupid selection. McLeod ahead of Reinach is madness. Brendan Venter looks to be no improvement on Plum when it comes to selections.

Kriel and Jantjies on the bench is just madness, both must have injury issues.

Good to see de Allende and Pat Howard at centre for WP, that is a better pair than the Stormers pair. Its sad Swiel did not start ahead of v/Aswegen at 10 and worse still is he has not made the bench, surely he is a far better option than the very average Coleman. Where is lock Ruan Botha, I know he was injured but he must be over it by now.

Would have preferred to have seen Dries Swanepoel at 13 for the Bulls, Buyers is a good player but more of  15. It would have made more sense to play the physical J.du Plessis at 5 and played Hattingh at 7. The useless Wepner at 2 ahead of Callie Visagie is a laugh. Good to see prop Marcel v/d Merwe back from injury

 Mike stop speaking shit, he might have had an average game but he is a class act. Boshoff at 10 is a joke

 Crap he has been no better or worse than any other SA flyhalves this year

 Im with mike here saf elton is shit! im sorry the boy cant kick and he cant pass! the only thing he can do is step and run with the ball! and not very well at that :P tony has more skill than him and even he isnt a class act i think! 

Mike have you any idea why loius fouchie isnt picked for bulls? i love that guy i think he is a very good kicker and a very good at distributing the ball evenly! 

what can anyone tell me about the cheetahs frontrow??? the rest of the cheetahs team looks pretty impressive IMO, though i dont know how quick smit is to be playing on the wing.

foxsport in OZ usually airs two CC games, not live though but during the week at an obscure time thoiugh, so im hoping that they show both the bulls game as i would like to watch more of englebrechett who i thought was impressive and also the cheetahs team.

and whats with SA hookers??? thats some amazing depth right there. i would be stoked to have players of the quality of ntubeni, fourie, hooper or burden throwing their lot into All Black contention, hooker is not an area of concern for me at the moment, but it is being monitored very carefully.

 Sas Jenkinson the tighthead for the Cheetahs was in the Baby Bok squad in 2011. Big lump at 122kg. Oosthuizen at loosehead is a good young prop who used to be with the Lions and was injured for a while.

Liebenberg at 2 is Tiaan Liebenberg of the Stormers brother

 For me I think that the Cheetahs have the better team on paper followed by WP. The Griquas always play welll in the currie cup but I think that they will struggle this year now that Pretorius, Viljoen and Le Roux are no longer in the team. The weekest teams for me are the Sharks and the Bulls. 

Can't wait to see how the center combination of De Allende and Howard fairs. never really seen Howard play but you guys on here seem to rate him quite highly. Just wish WP would stop selecting Carr, he is to slow to be an 8 and has no creativity or ball skills. For me my number 8 should be the playmaker in the pack. Ala Joe Van Niekerk at his peak.

Problem with Joe van Niekerk is that his peak only lasted a few months.

I know he was talked up as being the next great loose forward (something we Bok supporters do a lot . . . think Skinstad and Spies) and he was fast-tracked into the Springbok team before he'd even played a game of Currie Cup or Super Rugby but, like Skinstad and Spies, he never even came close to fulfilling the expectations created by all the hype around him.

Van Niekerk didn't make much of an impact in his rookie season in 2001, he then looked world-class for a few months in 2002 (playing at flank rather than #8, note) and then, through a combination of injuries, lack of form (and allegedly a fondness for recreational drugs) he gradually faded from the scene, spending more and more time on the bench as an impact player and never showing his form of 2002 except for one test match against Wales in November 2004. Like Skinstad and Spies, "Big" Joe was a huge disappointment if you consider all the hype and I'm surprised anyone rates him as one of our better #8s.

If you want a quality #8 who may not have been blessed with all the natural attributes or skills of posers like Skinstad, van Niekerk and Spies but gave 100% commitment in every game he ever played for the Springboks and had the complete respect of his team mates as well as opposition players, then look no further than Gary Teichmann.

I'd pick the consistent, courageous, hardworking grafter Gary Teichmann for my team in a heartbeat ahead of any of your flashy showponies.

thanks for that, it sounds like the cheetahs have a half decent replacment with their top dogs away on Bok duties.

i like tian liebenberg, dont think hes Bok material, but hes good enough for spXV level and lower. is he injured??? would be nice to see the brothers square off down the track.

is burssow injured or was he called into the Boks squad???

 I disagree rooinek, Van Niekerk was our best player at the 2003 WC. If you consider what a disaster it was with De Strueli at the helm. 

What I do agree with is that Skinstad and Spies are both show ponies. For me skinstad had great hands but shied away from hard work and would rather prefer to camp out in the backline. Spies has great pace but nothing else, he hardly ever makes a big hit, rubbish hands, how many simple passess does he drop. 

Teichman was a great captain and player and Mallet probably has the most regret. 

I just think our loose forwards has lost some ball skills, to much about hitting rucks and carrying the ball in channel one. 

Back in the 50's our whole pack could pass the ball and that was one thing that was spoken about the most back then. Remembering watching a documentary and the former great scottish players / commentary.  (forgot his name) kept going on about how great he thought the forward pack was and the fact that they would pass the ball one handed to each other. Shifting the point of contact. 

Our forwards just seem to wrap both their arms and plow head down into tacklers. 

I still felt that Schalc burger would be the answer at 8 but who knows if we will ever see him again on a rugby field.

IMO spies hasnt alwys been a show pony, his performances in 09 in particular were frekaing huge herculean efforts, its why IMO he was the best 8 in the world and after the whipping the Boks gave us in 09, i remember watching spies with a micorscope, cos i had him pegged as the Boks most dangerous player.

schalk at his peak was one of the better link men in the SA loose forwards, but i really do think u have better at the moment, especially once arno gets back into the pic.
if burger can get back to that form he had before his poor injury run, then i dont see why they couldnt include him.

vermeulen is slow as a mofo, but he makes up for it with the physical stuff, so meyer just needs to make sure the other two loosies compliment and balance out whats required, meaning playing alberts and vermeulen at the same time is a huge mistake.

lappies is one player who can compliment the styles of vermeulen, hes just as physical and with louw as the thrid peice of the puzzle, u would have one of the more balanced loosies in the last few years.
