Chances of a Springboks upset over All Blacks rated 'slim to zero'; NZ Herald

The Springboks are being written off as a disaster in waiting as they prepare for Saturday's test in Christchurch.

Sport 24 labelled the South African side as being "very close to chaos" following the defeat to the Wallabies, while describing the All Blacks as "champagne quality".

Chief sports writer Rob Houwing opined: "The Springboks are currently flying, if that is even the right word to employ, like a jumbo jet on one engine, with a loose set of flaps and wheels jammed at the halfway point of deployment. In other words, at considerable risk of a catastrophic crash."

He wrote it would be "galling to South Africans" that former Springbok Errol Tobias believed "the spine of the Pumas team may currently be stronger than the Springbok one".

"If South Africa can somehow win in Christchurch under present circumstances, it might go down as one of their greatest upset triumphs of all time," Houwing wrote.

"Confusion reigns supreme ... these Boks look devoid of structure, clear-cut strategy, cutting edge and composure, and also just beginning to flirt with a potential post-isolation record low for tangible individual class and aura in the ranks, quite frankly."

The Sunday Independent rated the Springboks' chances as "slim to zero". Thesarugbymag.co.za writer Jon Cardinelli believed "the Boks will lose to the All Blacks in Christchurch. The only question is by how much."

Yeah, we've heard this before but the ABs never take the Boks lightly. Let's hope the Boks show us something at least, last week they did ok for the first half.

The Boks have no chance of winning, we are no longer in the top3.

My only hope is that it's not a cricket score. 

Boks will lose. I reckon the AB's are going to win by 30+ points. The Boks are too disorganised, there is zero cohesion, our defense is a joke, and our discipline is a massive issue. Non e of these things bode well for the Boks this coming weekend. For me though there are two slight shining lights, firstly, with enough losses and a poor enough debut season, the powers that be might get rid of Coetzee. Even political correctness will eventually give in to an infuriated rugby public and empty stadiums. The second glimmer of hope, in my opinion anyway, is that most of our issues come down to an incompetent coaching staff and a total lack of leadership. Meaning, I think our player pool isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. We are not New Zealand, but we have enough talent to at least make a competitive side. With solid selections and a proper plan, the boks should be able to compete with England for the world no.2 spot. NZ, is a bridge too far, but we'd still make them work for a win...in my fantasy scenario. 

TESTS ON SOUTH AFRICAN SOIL, AND ABROAD INVOLVING THIS JOKE FOR THAT MATTER, NEED TO BE BOYCOTTED. IT'S THE ONLY WAY.

Will the ABs dare the move? Rugby needs partners to be played and it means that you cant sink another team.

A non business mind AB team will run 100+ points over the decaying SA rugby that should no longer be.

Problem is that, in the doing, NZ put themselves at a risk of losing a business partner.

 NZ can rest their top players and field a team of second stringers and they should still wrap it up before half time. And I am being optimistic about the halftime mark as well.

 It is only disrespectful to the team, players and management if they are there on MERIT.

Obviously this is not the case. I do pity the players and would encourage them to take up contracts outside of South Africa.

There is no way in hell they will win. This is a sad day as I have never ever previously 

anticipated at a ' Bok' Test without ANY hope of them producing a result. The fact that we are 

going to get shafted only saddens me because the team still carries the Springbok name

and emblem.

The quota system has done nothing but degrade both sports

The only ones with anything remotely positive to say about the coming NZ vs RSA game are the New Zealanders here. Thanks for the attempted encouragement you lot, but we Saffas just don't have much to shout about at the moment. Our one escape from our slowly declining country was the Springboks, but now even they are on the steady decline seen in the rest of South Africa. 
Its a sad state of affairs, but thanks none the less!

 The comparison between Barca and ABs is misleading.

Barca is one of the great football teams, one that, at times, defines football. There are other great teams that also define football.

That is the difference with rugby.

Since the start of the professional era, the ABs have managed to monopolize the position of defining rugby. They are the main and only reference team.

The ABs have kept growing their players, experimenting new plays, new ways of training etc

On the other hand, SA badly managed the professional turn, mainly due to declining resources following the squandering effort by excellent men.

They failed to train players, they failed to think of ways of playing rugby. They clinged to an antiquated way that had relevancy sometimes in the past but no longer.

SA players are known to be drugs addicts, relying on boosts. It can make it punctually, for one match. It cant work when facing a string of encounters.

The ABs put a lot of thought on the way of sparing the human body during contact so that their players can endure more and longer. This gives an edge during tournaments and ensure that players are kept as fresh as possible.

SA XV rugby is obsolete and the resources to reform it, to improve it are no longer. They were consumed.

 The NH sides poaching SA talent seems to have been overlooked ,it makes the hard choices the ABs made to select only Super rugby players all the more credible .Trad is right on the way the ABs manage players during and after games ,the pacing of players energy commitment seems to leave them with more in the tank come the last quarter .Just look at how rooted the Argies were at the 50 min mark with the ABs still fresh looking and eager .

The Traditionalist should be called the Conspiratist- with has a serious Chip on his shoulder, along with a deep understanding of economic market place mechanisms.
