Much moaning about Morne kicking for territory in the last 10 minutes....but when you can't move the ball 25 metres and have to score, playing for territory is your only option. The real problem is why we can't move the ball. It's what killed us in the RWCQF with a mountain of possession.

I had no doubt we'd get to this point the moment Meyer announced his team....which was so obviously picked for up and unders. But the absence of Fransie Steyn and Kirchner has compromised that tactic. And in any case, it's a strategy that has already been solved. We won with kicking in 2009....we wont again.

Once you are free to step away from the Bools model things become more interesting....and if the backs are properly coached we can make progress. Witness the Boks before and after Eddie Jones. Just one question for you to ponder. When last did you see a Bok back running at full pace before the scrumhalf picks up the ball. They should all have to watch the Joe Roff tapes. You don't crack modern defences running at half pace.

If we are going to continue with the Heyneke game plan though, we would be foolish to replace Morne. He understands the tactics better than any other player in the game, except for the next solution. F du Preez. After this I expect the old master to be called on for the FN.

But if change is within Heyneke's universe.....I would play Lambie at 10. Unlike Goosen he isn't hurt for the season. And unlike Jantjies he doesn't miss a third of his tackles. He is certainly much more comfortable ball in hand than Morne....and can still execute the kicking game if need be....and he is an ice man.
