Cheetahs and the Pro 12

This from SArugbymag: 'The Cheetahs could join the Celtic Pro12 competition if they are axed from Super Rugby. According to the BBC, the Bloemfontein-based franchise has been approached by the league, which currently comprises teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy. The Pro12 denies extending a formal invitation, but says discussions are underway between stakeholders. What is the Pro12? Super Rugby will be reduced from 18 to 15 teams at the end of the season, with two South African franchises (most likely the Kings and Cheetahs) and one from Australia (the Rebels or Force) to be dropped.' ............... This could be a good beta test for exiting Super Rugby. At worst it should strengthen our negotiating posture in Super Rugby and ease the pain of the Cheetahs axing.

This could be a good idea. I would like to see SuperRugby continue- but merging Southern Hemisphere and Northern Hemisphere could bring in money to SA rugby and keep more players in SA. 

 
It's best to leave the Kiwi's to themselves.

Their self importance has gotten out of hand.

 I think it is going to be messy to try and comprise playing rugby in SA in mid-summer - especially in Bloemfontein in this case.   Consider a Cheetahs home game on 20 December against a NH team. 
Since there is a major difference in NF and SH seasons - the only solution may end up with no home games for the Cheetahs and all their games being in the NH.
Theoretically a good idea on paper - but not in practice.   There is no rugby played in Europe in June, July and he early half of August - while in SA the situation is (other than the Cape Town Sevens) no rugby played in November, December and the first three weeks of January - after which the formal season actually start late in February'
There are tests of NH teams played in the SH in June - to be moved next year to July - and SH teams playing in Europe in November,  
That is in the main the situation - so participation of SA teams taking part in NH competitions will take heed of that and the further situation is that the SH teams will end up with no home games for any SA Team taking part in such competitions.  -
