The Bulls v Cheetahs game will be intense. Will the Cheetahs be able to win enough ball? will the Bulls be able to score tries relying almost exclusively on the forwards ?

Rob Ebersohn was probably the biggest loss out of all the SuperRugby teams, his role in the Cheetahs was one of the reasons why we did so well, that and Le Roux. Frans Venter is looking like an able replacement but it's going to take time for him to fill the huge shoes left by Ebersohn.
I was unimpressed by both Caylib Oosthuizen and Nyankane, former seemed un-passionate and the latter lazy. Labuschagne wasn't his usual self and neither was Van Der Walt. Uys isn't physical enough and needs to be replaced ASAP.
I was impressed by Shaun Venter, he seems to be nippy and has a decent pass. Frans Venter is looking like he suits the Cheetahs gameplan and has a cool head just like his predecessor. Boom Prinsloo looks a handy player, but still not a Brussow. Hendricks looks like a handful but seems a bit suspect on defence, I think he just needs a few more matches as his technique is fine just his positioning.

I also like Rhule who attacked very well and has improved his defence, he has also bulked up a bit from 85kg to 91kg over the pre-season. Just needs to improve under the high ball.
Sarel also had the brain fart of round 1 and potentially SuperRugby with passing the quick line out to the Lions which eventually led to them getting 3 points.

Staring with Cayleb at 1 was a mistake.......Ebersohn became a non factor later on.......he lost his mojo after not making the Boks. Frans Venter will be better than Ebersohn as he is both creative but also brings more physicality to the role.
Its concerning how often Goosen went down injured........not a good sign at all.
Drotske needs to wake up and get Howard Mnisi involved.
Rhule has bulked up nicely and Hendricks added value with his 7's experience
Lood had another great game and Coenie looks in the best shape I have ever seen him

I doubt the Cheetahs will cope with the Bulls. Too many of their players cave under physicality. It's one of those match-ups where one side can perfectly exploit the others' vulnerabilities. Even now I would back the Bulls.

Those New Zealand teams can play more direct than the Cheetahs can afford to. I am a Cheetah fan myself, but the last time I thought a vulnerable Bulls side could be beaten, they thumped us by 50 points quite comfortably! Looking at how easily they ploughed through the Sharks with those drives concerns me. We don't have Coetzee, Beast, PSDT, Bismarck or Alberts to throw at them, nor a Steyn, Mvovo or Odwa. How do you create space without taking contact and getting pulverised in the process? This match-up doesn't suit the Cheetahs at all. And then there is Goosen and Le Roux, another showing like that of last week and they are toast. I hope to be proven wrong though, but I just can't believe it.

Who knows, maybe we can target their centres. It takes but one weakness. I loved that first Sharks try, Frans coming in across Mvovo and Jordaan with a sweeping run, condensing the those three defenders, then leaving Serfontein isolated; Jordaan attacks the outside shoulder, Mvovo the inside shoulder. It was perfect demonstration of creatinh space - something the Cheetahs do well. If we can't win then at least hope to do some damage. Serfontein was targeted by Jake and was a sitting duck. Then there is the fact that the Bulls were terrible ball-in-hand. Hopefully Ludeke backs Fouché! If the stars align, who knows. You've got me thinking about this too much, I'll soon be believing again lol
