Cheetahs- The best Backline play in South Africa!

 It's not just the backs....a guy like Strauss has state of the art forward handling.....you wouldn't want their defensive coach though! The Chiefs almost walked in some of those tries.

 Sharkbok, they've been sprouting the best backline for a number of years, some games it shows a bit better than others, that said I have to agree with you that their attack in the Chiefs game was top shelf. I also enjoyed passages of play by the Lions, I remember at least three attacking moves that was up there with the best, one of those plays led to a try and the other two plays with a touch of luck could easily have converted to points. But I must say the Lions are the only SAFFA side who play the short-passing game looking to offload in the tackle....reminds me of the Brumbies of old who were very good at gaining huge metres with their shortpassing game.

 I'll be happier when I see a linebreak or two from the kid!

without doubt, the Cheetahs produce the best backline play in SA fearless, running enterprising rugby at it's very best and it shows when their players wear the Boks jersey. Just happy that kind of free spirited running rugby is not encouraged at the natiional level.

The Cheetahs backs were well supported by the forwards in the loose. They were all over the field & wining the clean outs, linking with the backs, etc. Great to see.

The hallmark of the Cheetahs game has always been the use of the forwards. It's actually quite unique from other South African sides in that they are used far more as runners and link-men; it fits into their patterns in how they work you across the field. All-in-all the Cheetahs are the most structured team in South Africa on attack by far, even if this season hasn't been that spectacular. The way they support each other (forwards and backs) and draw defenders is the key. They don't have alot of weight to throw at you so they rely on speed and precision in a hit and run strategy. In one of their earlier games I counted 4 decoy runners in a single movement from broken play. Thei r backs coach would be ideal for the Boks.
