Classic case of underestimating the opposition.......what a shocking performance that was......took them back a good few steps from their performances last year.

Venter was ok at 12, Coenie as solid as ever and Labascagne had a solid game........for the rest it was poor stuff.......Hendricks on the wing will want to forget that game, as will Venter at 9.

The Stormers were disappointing and snuck in late. de Allende stood out at centre as did Aplon on the wing. Taute had a very solid comeback game. Schrauder was poor, Groom so much better. Frontrow was solid, Fourie a menace and Vermeulen had a solid game.

Bulls vs Lions game was never going to amount to much in the rain. Hougaard had an asssured game at 9, with the boot of all things. du Plessis continues to impress as a ball carrier at 7

All in all an average weekend of rugby by the SA side

Yes the SA sides are probably the weakest they've been overall in many years. I don't see much outside the Sharks, though the Bulls do have the capacity to surprise us at some point. To the Rebels credit, it's no secret that they can use the ball if given the chance. More than anything else I was disappointed with the Cheetahs work at the breakdown. Another weakness that's holding them back.

cheetahs got a real ass whipping in thier first game of the NZ/OZ tour last year when they took on the chiefs, but they recovered nicely and went on to win their last 3 games.

rebels are very much in the same position that the cheetahs were in last year, they have the potential to make some real waves this year, and all teams should watch their backs, cos the rebels arent taking any prisoners.

ive been saying for a while that the SA conference is the weakest in the spXV compm sharks are the republics best team, but i dont think they have what it takes to deal with comps top dogs, the chiefs, the waratahs and even the crusaders who while kak at the moment, have been notorious poor starters who always bounce back.
