Watched both these games this morning and thought the Cheeters played very well even tho they lost. Very pleased with the Brumbies win it was a big game for them.
One of the commentators said it was Jakes birthday this week but Wikipedia has got this wrong his birthday is in December.
As I pointed out earlier in the week, the Brumbies are very smart at the breakdown. To be honest, the Highlanders looked more like the Boks of 2010 just bashing away with the forwards. Brumbies held firm and good on them. Like I say Jake has done a lot of good work there, but you can't coach courage or character and they are brimming with that.
What a turnaround 2012 is proving to be for the Brumbies, everyone is singing theirs and Jake's praises. They've certainly found a direction and purpose....and it shows.
Jake is probably the smartest coach of the millenium so far. What he accomplished with the Boks was always diminished by those who couldn't see. For me the final element was having the confidence to hire and fully unleash Eddie Jones. Meyer may be good, White is way better.
Agreed, Jake had the vision to realise a need for Jones and throughout the pool games the Boks played like a Jones team but from the quarterfinals onwards they played like a JW team. Jake realised that no-one in South Africa had the ability to provide the much needed dimension only Eddie Jones could provide.
And moz, you're quite right, all of the above flew straight over the head of the blinkered.
Lets ge tthsi all inperspective shall we. Jake was a good who built up the Boks over his period as coach.H ewona world cup agins tweak opposition playing only one side who had ever beaten the Boks in the entire history of the game.
Meyer has not had a similar chance to show wha the can do so to compare the is premature. However if we ahd to pla ythose saem sides in the next world cup and england were in a weakned starte i would back the Boks to win the WC any day.
So lesson number 1 - put things in perspective please. Smartest coach of the millenium. Hahahahhahahaha very funny. Aa good coach but hardly a great one.
Now for the cruncher. Was it not the good doctor who said Alistair did well as the bok backline coach? Beeeno of course said he had flopped and was rewarded by bein made WP coach. Now who was right. Well Beeno of course! Alistair is no backline coach and Fleckie ditto. Boks backs only came to light with the advent of Eddie Jones.
As for the Brumbies well they should have lost agains tthe Cheetahs!!!! That of course is conveniently being forgotten. Also being swept undr the carpet is the fact the highlanders have been squeeking home and it couldn't last. Again get some perspective please.
