It appears Cheika is digging his heels in, having no intention of resigning. However, the axes are being sharpened, and this loss will have done nothing to quieten an increasingly disgruntled Wallaby fan base. One who has already vented it's disapproval towards the team in Australia.
Where did it all go wrong? Inside the opening quarter of the game they kicked too no effect. The horrible pass by Beale was the worst possible start and immediately had the team under pressure. On attack, the typical dancing behind the gainline. Where was the attacking influence of Beale? He sets the whole backline on the backfoot as he crabs before every pass. The halfbacks cannot manage the game. This was a huge tactical failure by Cheika, one which he stubbornly persisted with.
As far as I can see, the Wallabies have been moving further and further away from traditional Wallaby rugby, despite what Cheika has insisted. They need s ome fresh perspective from outside conventional Aussie thought. In my mind, Cheika must go. The team is deteriorating under his charges.
