Rock solid defence completely neutered the Liverpool attack and the Suarez threat. Enough pace to threaten on the counter and physicality in the box completed the winning picture...defence trumps attack again.
This is a method for Bok rugby. Get the defence right, take away the sidelines with great lineout play and kick your goals and the basics are in place. Add to that some pace on the outside and a genius like Willie to see the opportunity and we have all the ingredients.
The fact is the Boks had the ABs on the ropes using exactly this approach in NZ...only to be thwarted by an incompetent with a whistle. The effort at Ellis Park predictably abandoned the formula because of the need for tries.....and predictably failed. You don't use a me too strategy playing to the strengths of your opponent.
Play to our relative competitive advantage and we will be fine, all this despair based on some silly S15 games is a bit defeatist.
