Come now - Toulon won the Heineken Cup this year - suppose to be the top club in Europe. They invited he Chiefs - who initially accepted to play - but then opted out. Chickening I call it.

Thanks for the description of th Chinese Year of the Snake.
However, the year may be a bad for your favourite team - the Chiefs. The signs are really bad for two days - namely 9 March 2013 and 27 April 2013 - those are the worst possible days in the first half of the year for them.
Poor little Cruden - the signs are not good either. He is going to find pressure on him building up and may soon be the third best flyhalf in new Zealand - that is after Carter and Barrett.

"The proposed exhibition match between Super Rugby champions the
Chiefs and European Cup champions Toulon will not take place this
season.
The Chiefs released their pre-season schedule on Friday, which sees
them face the Reds and the Blues and not Toulon after both teams failed
to get clearance from their national bodies.
There were other obstacles to making the North-South showdown happen,
including travel logistics, the availability of top players and
injuries.
Apparently Toulon's wealthy owner Mourad Boudjellal had offered to pay
the Chiefs' expenses in return for the Waikato franchise's playing a
full-strength side, but it was not to be.
Instead the Chiefs will travel to Queensland to face the Reds on
February 8 before taking on the Blues in Rotorua a week later on Feburay
14.
Chiefs CEO Andrew Flexman explained that it was just not possible to
organise the showdown, but did not rule out participating in a similar
match in future.
"The Toulon match was always contingent on our being able to take a
full strength squad, however because of our circumstances, this has
changed, and so now we will put our focus on our existing pre-season
campaign and an important season ahead.
"We have not ruled out playing matches off-shore in the future," he said.|
What a farce. They can for some reason or another not take a full squad to play the match. I call it chickening out - the CVhiefs forward pack are to weak for such a match. They will have serious problems in that department the coming year and I think they are not going to have it easy.

Hika Reid is out after losing the feelings in his legs... a career ending neck injury by the looks so dunno how the Chiefs will replace him???
Not sure who else is injured but without clearance from the French national body, injuries are irrelevent anyway...

How did you end up on SW, wasting valuable company time? Used to pop in to read the odd article, decided to join the blogging as I do it on other rugby sites. Its my salvation, I’m a SA rugby man living in England. I can’t talk SA rugby with my Pom mates!
Who is your favourite referee – current or old? Dont have one, they are all wrong most of the time!
Why Rugby ? Its in my bloody, if its not a woman, its rugby dominating my thoughts. I played, my kids play, I coach, I hate missing a game, I am always selecting sides, I know the weights, ages of every SA S15 player (sad) – you could say rugby is a passion of mine. I should have had a career in rugby.
How do you react when your team loses? If the Boks lose, I stay grumpy for a good 24 hours.
What is your most memorable rugby moment ever? Winning our two world cups, in particular the first one as I played with Hennie le Roux.
