Seta Tamanivalu will miss the Chiefs quarter final due to injury


Chiefs Coach Dave Rennie has named a 25 man Super Rugby squad that will travel to Cape Town South Africa to play the Stormers in a Quarter final.


All Black Seta Tamanivalu is unavailable for the match after sustaining an MCL injury in their Round 17 clash against the Highlanders. He will be assessed on a week-by-week basis.

Having topped African Conference 1, the Stormers secure the home advantage in what will be their first game against a New Zealand side this year under the 2016 competition format.


The game will be played at 7pm on Saturday the 23rd of July at Newlands, Cape Town, which is 5am on Sunday the 24th of July for Chiefs fans back in New Zealand.


Nepo Laulala, Mitchell Karpik, Pauliasi Manu, Sam Henwood, Johan Bardoul, Glen Fisiiahi, Maama Vaipulu, Michael Allardice, Michael Leitch, James Tucker, Charlie Ngatai, Seta Tamanivalu, Andrew Horrell, Hiroshi Yamashita, Augustine Pulu (All Blacks Sevens) were all not considered for selection.

 Ngatai is still in troubles with his concussion,...... seems that he won't play more this season,........ bad thing for the chiefs (and for the AB),..... specially with Tamanivalu also missing,...... huge losses for the chiefs in the midfield

so who's gonna play alongside Lienert-Brown in midfield ?...... Stephen Donald?

surprised to see Messam there,...... he's been cleared to play the finals without having played the 4 regular season games the law says anyone has to play?

 The list of "not considered for selection" is long & has some real talent on it. Chiefs seem to find good players to replace injured players but at some point it gets to be a problem. Maybe SBW can follow Messam's lead and just drop in for a game

 big loss for chiefs,....... he was quite average yesterday but his experience will be missed,..... apart from Cane the rest of the loosies are inexperienced,...... Lachlan Boshier, Tom Sanders, Taleni Seu and Koloamatangi have very few experience,...... and all of them are going to be in the 23-squad,..... 2 of them from the bench but other 2 starting (possibly sanders and Seu)

I think the Chiefs should be fined for including him in the team. If we all know he is not eligible- then surely he and the coaching team must know.The precedent was set ages go when the Stormers tried something similar. 
Messam' s choke tackles will be missed.

Never really liked the Chiefs...hol ligans and thugs but respected them for big balls...my sentiments are with the great Crusties but the best team in in NZ is the Highlanders.

 The Landers is the most complete team. The Canes/Saders match over the weekend was a joke. Poorest defense seen in a SR match for ages. Kieran looked like a fool. GO LIONS!

 Actually the best team in NZ and the whole comp is the Canes. They finished 1st in Conference and the Standings. How was the Canes/Saders a joke? Both teams defended well. The Canes were just outstanding on Attack. I see no difference between the games. Not sure what game you were watching. So what a team attacks well, it is down to poor defense? What a load of crap.

 ....Really looking forward to the weekend - there are some real mouth watering match ups on offer.. not the least of these being the battle of the AB standoffs to impress , so expect big games from them...


...regards Messam, he went off injured on the weekend anyway so his exclusion due to lack of games played is a moot point...would have been eligible if he had played four games apparently...


...looks like Beaver has a chance to become an even greater legend if he gets slotted in the centres for the Chiefs...will we see a sequel to the movie...?


... the Stormers haven't faced one NZ team all season so they must be kakking their daks...
