Poor showing by the Stormers considering the talent they have available.
It amazes me how the Saffers lose possession. Example late in the second half a Stormers player is tackled in the Chiefs 25, he has three players in support and the Chiefs have one who was the tackler. The Stormers players watch while the Chiefs one player takes the advantage and wins the ball.
This happens time and time again with most SA sides. What is wrong with having the guts to go for the ball like the NZ teams do. Is it because the SA sides are "BANG" or do not understand that you need possession to win. Stop kicking the ball away.
The Stormers loose players are a failure the only guy who stood out was Carr who came on as a sub.
Disappointing game overhaul for SA rugby but we have to start playing to the rules and stand up and be counted.
Leadership, managing are all key areas of the game.....lacking big time in SA rugby.Lets hope the Sharks coaches and managers show us how it should be done.

Stormers were off their game. Second week on tour is always their worst. Chiefs is one of the best teams, if not the best in the competition. With a bit of luck the Stormers could have won. They had a bad day and the Ciefs were better, but it's not all doom and gloom. We need a change in coaching, but there's no need to write them off now.

Haven't seen the game so will reserve judgment, but had the league champs within 4 and five minutes to go doesn't sound like all disaster.

Poor Mozart did not watch the game and start spreading BS as per normal. His latest attack was expected - nothing new:-
His latest attack is on De Allende - who was actually one of the better backline players of the Stormers. I suppose he will write books because De Allende missed some tackles - his missed tackle ratio at 20% was indeed problematic - but he did make a contribution to one of the tries scored by the Stormers and was a handfiul for the Chiefs when it came to defence.
The Mozart wizard just got an opportunity to attack De Allende - one mistake and he is doomed for life. They have to find a place for piss poor De Jongh - who has wicked tackle stats worst than De Allende could ever have - in the team.

Does anyone know if Jaco Taute has a brain. After last weeks butchering of the try to his winger, and another brain dead performance it seems not.

The Taute/Jantjies duo was about the worst trade in any sport, in any era. Taute is so slow mentally it's painful to watch. Aplon should be at 15 permanently....he is much better there. Likewise JdV should be at 12 permanently.

Taute did cause the first try of the Chiefs as a result of knocking on of a ball - so I think he does have a skills problem as well.
I always have problems with the heavies without an idea about thinking rugby in any team. If poor ball handling is added - you really have a problem. I think that T aute is not living up to his early promise and is at best a very average player - sad to say.

Mpzart - the devious. He said De Villiers should be at 12 so that piss-poor De Jongh could be at 13. He saw players missing tackles and blamed it all on De Allende.
Lets analyse the situation a but to get an idea of how Mozart works things out to justify his statementsL-
* Last week Francois Steyn missed 2 out of 4 attemped tackles - no problem. Steyn missed tackle ratio to date is 26,3% - no problem - he is the ideal 10 or 12 for the Springboks. Then De Villiers must play at 13 - it would then be no problem.
* This week De Allende missed 3 out of 15 attempted tackles - huge problem get rid of him immediately. His missed tackle ratio for all four games he played in was 16.3%. - that means nothing - the higher the missed tackle ratio - the better a defender.
Aplon missed 3 out of 5 attempted tackles - no problem at all - nail De Allende and everything will be fine as long as the biggest problem in defense is playing at 13.

Have to agree with you Mozart. De Allende offered nothing in my opinion and I watched him closely. No imagination except for the worst ever chip kick in history that gave the Chiefs the bonus try!Stormers showed clearly they had no confidence in their ability to retain the ball through multiple phases. After 2-3 phases it was almost like "we've done well to keep it this far so we'd better kick it now in case we lose it"!The Chiefs, like the ABs have no problem in going through many phases well inside their own half.

Chiefs played well enough to win, but geez they were lucky and seemed to get every bounce of the ball and were absolutely gifted a couple of those tries. As bad as the Stormers tackling and ball retention was the score could have been much worse. Worst Stormers game I have seen in a long time, very uncharacteristic so I don't expect (hope) to see it again this season
Thought the Chiefs forwards got the better of the Stormers forwards in loose play - very aggressive and physical - but generally speaking have the refs stopped calling shoulder charges at the ruck? Players in position over the ball getting absolutely smashed. Needs to be stopped. Several no arm tackles as well - making Bismarck on Carter look textbook.
Why is Aplon not game planned more? - threatens with every touch. Has to be one of the most under-utilized South African players of all time?
Schalk - wow. I honestly thought he was done after that bacterial meningitis. So happy to be proven wrong. Looking forward to seeing him in the green and gold.
Worst game I have seen De Allende have - between missed tackles and decision making - he must have thought he was playing center for the Bulls He's class though, will bounce back.
Didn't think we would miss Scarra, but Liebenberg looked old in comparison. Scarra may be a better option when healthy.
Nizaam Carr is getting better and better.
Where did this Louw kid come from for the Chiefs? Trying to match the NZ style of play with the depth and quality of their athleticism is like bringing a pocket knife to a sword fight.
South Africans know what they need to do to win rugby games against these blokes. Play to our strengths. Unmatched physical defense and commitment, set-piece superiority, territory and possession dominance, direct backline play and a kicker that converts opportunities and applies pressure. Who cares if its not "attractive" rugby.

Malherbe and Etzebeth will improve the tight five. Liebenberg was good and Scurra makes a good impact option.
Grant is a better option at flyhalf as he adds an attacking dimension. Play Jean at 12 and Allende at 13. Van Wyk, Aplon and Taute complete the back three.This side is good enough to make the playoffs if they can get their game plan working.Etzebeth is a vital cog in the pack. I fear the Sharks chances of winning the Super 15 have nosed dived with Du Toits injury - we shall see how the go. M aybe Alberts at lock and shove Deysel in at 7.

de Allende was on e of the best Stormers players, far better than Jean........any negatives thrown Taute's way is laughable unless backed up by actual incidents on the field - what a load of rubbish
The Stormers were exposed out wide as Jean had no idea how to marshal the defensive line........he was completely exposed.......it was embarrassing how the Chiefs worked the space and numbers out wide.
The Stormers were pathetic thanks to a pathetic rugby mindset, something the Boks are also guilty of.
Coetzee is poison to the Stormers side, the man needs to be sacked at the conclusion of this S15.........give Mallett the job.
As for Botha, what a load of rubbish, the kid was great in the line-outs and put in some good hits. He did look dead on his feet after 30 min - that happens on debut

This Chief's win looks to have done more harm than good. We should not be advocating a silly proven-failure notion of running everything. One-dimensional is doing ony one thing repeatedly either out of stupidity or genuine limitation. In the early 00s South African sides kicked aimlessly because they could not breakdown the improved defences of Australia or New Zealand. Kicking wasn't bad in and of itself, but it was to nowhere in particular and without chasers or an organized approach to defend the run-back or win the ball back. That's when kicking was deemed the great evil, and the quest for the one-dimensional headless chicken rugby began. Saffex, what the Chiefs did was take liberties with a team that they knew could not hurt them; they knew they could do things that a complete side would have punished! Note that, a complete side. Complete as in functional inall areas of the game, not one dimensional. The Chiefs are heavily eschewed towards attacking, that does not make them complete by any stretch of the imagination. I would suspect Jake will have the number on them. In 2012 he totally stuffed their much vaunted attack and in 2013 was very unfortunate in losing the final.

The Chiefs are pretty impressive...but could they beat the Sharks or Bulls in SA? There is a measure of doubt.

Mozart has gone dilly again - he invents an additional try De Alllende gifted to the Chiefs - but he also missed out that De Allende made a major contribution to one of the Stormers tries. He goes on about Aplon - but does not mention that Aplon gifted a try to the Chiefs as well.
One day he may realize that the prejudice he shows all the time makes him look stupid. While we are at it - what about the two tries and penalties Steyn gifted to the Reds in the latest game this evening?

Steyn apart from his plac e kicking is doing very little - an occasional nice pass. certainly he cannot yet be considered for the Boks.

Steyn should be at flyhalf. Outside Lambie he got the least amount of ball of any 12 playing this weekend. In the meantime in 3 matches and 18 runs Lambie has made one break and beaten two tackles....that in a dominant team.
