Ouch! crusties finding it tough going. But its early days  yet - 10-3 at 27 minutes. SBW  offload apparently did the damage.

17-6 to chiefies!!  SBW puts Messam away. Crusties taking a beating thus far. Sitting bull in danger of heart attack and ruined vocals!

Beeno, Chiefies played as a team with absolutely no individuality and for me that is what made the diference. Chiefies were more hungry and it showed in the first half. At this level, it's all about attitude and the Chiefies had the better one.

Commentators summed it up best

Let me paraphrase;

We haven't heard from Dagg or Guildford all night, the rush defence of the Chiefs has line up singularly and shut them Crusaders back line down.

Chiefs kept up the pressure in defence and that lead to 10/11 handling errors, that destroys go forward ball. They kept their heads and play the best game plan against the Crusaders and it worked.

They were the better team and have been all season.

Yes Gareth it was one reason why I was not too concerned if they had to pitch up here for a final. The bulle also shut them down try wise. With all their possesion the crusties managed to only score 1 try. I believed we could have done likewise in restricting them.

Of course they also did not have the ref in their pocket!

Anyhow bye bye crusties how sad to see you go!

It was a fantastic first half for the chiefs, great breaking runs from some of the Chiefs players. The players that stood out for me was Cruden, Williams, Messam and the Full Back, forgot his name. They all made crucial line breaks that gave the chiefs fantastic momentum. What's been great is that they turned it into scoring oppertunites.

The chiefs really wanted to play and they didn't play high risk rugby, just good common sense rugby. Williams was the big supprise, he was really composed and never threw away the ball, but still managed to pass the ball once he knew he could in contact. Mcaw and Carter was nowhere tonight. That speaks volumes of the Chiefs defence. They put so much pressure on the Crusties, it just proves that if you rush Carter he falls apart.

I would say Cruden by far outplayed Carter tonight and this could see a big change. Almost a changing of the guard. I love watching Cruden play, absolutely amaizing little player. No wonder he is the leading 10 in the comp.

That said, I was hoping for extra time to wear them down a bit before next week. The chiefs might also be without a player or two after some fisty cuffs.

Finally, as much as the Sharks have done last week. I would love to see the Stormers face the Chiefs. The best defensive team against the best attacking team in the comp. It should settle the debate once and for all which style is better. Defence or Attack?

Kingcorn I am not sure it woul dsettle the issue.

I have maintained fo rsome time tha twithour burger and vermulen this Stormers pack, including even its defensive work is NOT at its best.

On Supersort where they were giving match predictions I saw this:

"With all the travelling the Sharks have had to do, I would have no doubt that the Stormers would win if Schalk Burger or Duane Vermeulen was fit".

"When Vermeulen was present earlier in the season no team could live with the Stormers physically. But while Deon Fourie produced a man of the match performance at No 8 in the last game, for me there is still a question mark in that area -- and it could be telling".

When Burger and Vermuelen are fit and we had a full strength pack no side in the Super 15 would live with them. I am hugely disapointed we were denied seeing this pack at full strength. That said I still think we could win.

...great running commentary on the running commentary Moonbean haha...Kingcorn the secret to the Mighty Chief's success is the combination of a solid defence and their attacking prowess....If the rain puddle team only has one of those then that won't be good enough to stop the Super 15 title for 2012 going to.....you guessed it.... the Mighty Chiefs
