Round 1:
Chippo 1 - Moz 0

Opinion: I actually thought Kriel did really well. He was solid on defense and often drew 2 or more tacklers. 1 criticism, he ran sideways a bit too often.

Rugby 365: 13 Jesse Kriel: He gave his side power in the midfield with some strong carries. 7/10 . Houwig on Rugby 24: Jesse Kriel: 6.5 Sometimes threatened to punch significant holes with deft, well-timed running lines. Firm tackles at handy junctures, too. . Moz's extra strong ratings: Kriel 6....couldn't use the good ball effectively, tended to crab sideways ............... Average 6.5 in the easiest game of the year, I can taste the vanilla and toasted grains of Oban. Here are the tasting notes for the 14 year: .. 'Nose: Orange peel (Gran Marnier?) and coriander. Heather blossoms, rose water, peach sherbet. Deeply honeyed, floral, and rich. White fruits, even a touch of white port. Perhaps a touch of peat, in a pithy, green herbal note. A dash of water brings out a little green apple and mown grass, and heightens the very small amount of peat (in a mossy/earthy way, not smokey). .. Palate: Viscous and honeyed. Full bodied if not creamy. Sweet baked goods (sugar cookies), raw local honey, red raspberries. Later, there is some jammy red fruits like pie filling. Very smooth, with nary a tongue burn. Water does this a dis-service, thinning the body with only a few drops, and stinging the tongue with alcohol. ... Finish: A touch of oak, drying in the back of the throat. Medium-long but with nice floral passes and a lot more of that raw, herby honey. Overall: A satisfying dessert dram. Honeyed and full-bodied, it reminds me a lot of white port, but with more bite. It’s hard to imagine anyone not loving Oban 14. Leave off the water on this one, though.'

@Moz, F*ck your stupid rating and Houwigs rating.
We agreed it was purely based on Rugby365!
So stop wasting your time in trying to find ways to be an idiot! You have enough already!

@clevermike, shutup your face! no one asked you.

Hahaha! Funny stuff! This is a very interesting bet you guys have got going here. I can't decide where I stand on J Kriel, so for me this could easily go either way.

 @ Blo
I know where I stand RE Jessie Jriel. You'll find me on the the corner of Rohan and Jansen Van Rendburg road. Shall I forward you the location? ;)

Hahaha @ Plum. Too true mate. There is not even a question about Rohan, but this is not about who deserves it more, but about Kriel's expected performance. With that in mind, the bet is wide open.

So, let's be clear here

Chippo has to average what, to claim the win?

Moz has to average what, to claim the win?.

As obvious as it may seem, let's rather get the specifics on what the final  deciding numbers are... after all these games have been played.

A miss is as good as a mile.

Constantly threatening to do this and that, but never managing it, says is all.

We need a do"er ... not a wannabe do"er. We need someone who can find the gap ... not someone who dreams of it at night, but knows deep in his heart that he doesn't have what it takes to be in the same class as Danie Gerber, Stirling Mortlock or Brian O"Driscoll.

Kriel doesn't have a creative bone in his body. You cannot rely on him to make something from nothing. The only time he'll break the line is if his inside man puts him into the gap with a good pass. He has no idea how to play at 13 and is even worse at defending the chanel. He doesn't even have the basics of a tackle down pat.

He will forever just be ... Jesse Kriel.

Good Morning CC.... my bud

Listen... I know I gave you an embarrassing lesson on that other thread last week.... so I really can understand that you are probably hurting just a tad.... especially given the fact that the whole board saw you for the liar and coward that you really are.

But please remember, it is in no way my fault, not even in the slightest... that your parents failed to teach you the values of honesty and integrity.... so please... rather keep this residual anger for someone else in your life... but....just don't kick the dogs... please.

@Plum, I agree 100% re Rohan. He is an unreal talent! But I do think he needs a bit more game time to get back to 100% fitness. Jesse is doing nicely though in Rohans absence.

@DA, If Jesse scores an average of 6.5 rating points or more (on average) over the course of the RC, I win. If its lower than 6.5, Moz wins.

Chippo ... the one plays at 12 and the other at 13.

They aren't competing for the same jersey so it's not really a fair comparison.

Feel like a bit of a dork.
Now that you mention it, i'd love to see Rohan at 12 with Jesse at 13.

What should be obvious to all is that Kriel and Serfontein have improved. To convince they must perform against the wee abs and Oz. Janse Van Rensburg is a powerhouse center and should be in the squad unless injured.  I like the idea of Rohan at 12 and Kriel at 13.Anybody thinking Kriel has no flair is a rugby ignoramus. He also has good feet and nice pace.

The litmus test will be against the Kiwis and then the Poms.
But so far, they have proven to be our best since JDV and Jaque Fourie in they heyday

Dream on Kriel and Serf are the same players they have always been.....Step is too slow/Kriel is too waif-like.....Chip-ou wins if Kriel is still in the team for the last Super game (I'll give him a pass on injury in which case the bet is off).....and he scores 6.5 or better in that game according to 365 stats. ... I'm not restocking Oban, Chip-ou is going to do that for me.

How can he be rated in the final game, if he isn't playing in the final game....riddle me that Chip. Your man is suposed to appear in the last game and register 6.5 or above in that game.....I'm letting you off the hook if he is hurt, but not if he is dropped. That's halfway.

ok maybe there is a misunderstanding somewhere...
we agreed that if his over all rating is above 6.5, i win, else you win.

not sure what you are talking about the final (specifically) game for?
The winner isnt decided on the last game alone, but AFTER the last game, we will get his OVERALL ranking based on all games played.

sorry if there was some confusion.

if you look back at my initial comment, you will see I referred to his ranking at the end of the RC...not an average. But okay let's average his numbers....but what happens if he is dropped.....it seems in that case I win.

@Moz, why would he be dropped if he doing well (ie: above 6.5)?
If he is dropped with an average of 6.5 or higher, the bet is null and void.

@Moz, if he is benched with an average rating over over 6.5, then there is something else going on, Maybe horses for courses with de Allende replacing him as a battering ram or something to that effect.

So yes, i am still in... but if he is benched with an average rating of 6.5 or over, but is null and void.

Updated after NZ1 . Bargie 1...Kriel 7 . Bargie 2...Kriel 5 . Oz 1 ...Kriel 5 . NZ1....Kriel 4 . Average ....Kriel 5.25. He has to average 9 over the two home games to total 39 rating points or a 6.5 average over 6 games. . Is that even possible?
