Chris Pollock not appreciated

 The Lions apparently felt this NZ ref was a little bit one eyed at the breakdown. I have to say I had that impression.....those last two penalties given to Beale seemed entirely predictable.

Very much agree Moz, lions suffering from a difference in interpretation and something needs to done to ensure we have an understandable/marketable global game.

I'm glad the lions try was awarded despite what could have been judged as (very minor) interference, if that had been not allowed then we all might as well do away with dummy runners all together!

Even that last scrum penalty to oz, I thought could have gone either way. lions were still straight and engaged and oz wheeled the scrum more than turned it, so i could understand the miffed looks on the lions faces. I hope there is a northern ref for at least 1 of the test, just for a lil consistency. You know what I mean?

O'Connor got his fingertips on Cuthbert. The dummy runner made contact with O'Connor pushing him backwards and away from the channel that Cuthbert took. Without that contact O'Connor makes the tackle especially with the angle he would have had. Dummy runners are supposed to be a slight of hand, distraction measure, but if they physically change a defenders postion and thus affect the play it is obstruction - no two ways about it. Should have been disallowed.

Lions were fortunate to win given Wallabies innacurate goal kicking, numerous injuries and this questionable try.

North needs to be game planned far more - their best player.

Matey I looked at this incident again following your comments, which are always insightful. In this case O Connor seems to run up on O Driscoll as well. They both try to stop and there is contact. In the meantime the ball is passed to the next channel. I'm not sure this is a clear cut case of runner interference. ....O Connor seemed focused on tackling O Driscoll. It's an interesting case.....does the defender's  role in contact have a bearing on the call.

What is clear is, Beale made a rather pathetic tackle attempt.

Yea gonna see if i can find it and watch it again- give Matey the bene of the doubt, but i didn't think there was much in it.

Fair enough Moz/ABB, appreciate the effort to take a second look btw. Maybe I should too as i was really under the strong impression watching the replays that it would be called back. 

Must say that it was one of the most enjoyable games I have seen in a while given the stature of the occassion, the effort on both sides, the closeness of the score and just enough controversy woven in to make good talking points and anticipate the next matchup.
